ddickinson: I am really hating the site tonight. I just lost a big post I wrote to Fearful, and I keep getting frozen pages, infinite loading bars, and many other errors.

I think I will call it a night on here, I will just go enjoy a nice book. Hopefully the site will be working better for me tomorrow.

Goodnight!

*goodnight hugs and waves*

I had a longer message, but the site consumed it :-(. So here is the brief version.

You could still have a website for a single novel, promoted as your debut novel, then you add more as you write them. You would need to decide whether you would publish your books under a company name, or your own name (or pseudo name). Many smaller authors use their name, as it adds a more personal connection between the reader and the author. But you have time to consider all these things.

I would really like to hear more about your novel and publishing and things, as I am very interested. Perhaps when the site is working for me we can have a better conversation about it all.

I hope you have a good night and enjoy what is left of your evening.

*big goodnight hug*
Sorry to hear about your website troubles. Have a good night and have fun with your book. :)

Yes, that's true, it might be a good idea. I definitely don't want to publish under my own name. I intend to become a teacher and I can just about imagine the ultimate horror of students finding out their teacher writes sci-fi novels. Nuh-uh. :P A pseudonym it is.

Don't worry about it! I'd love to continue our conversation some other time. You can always send me a PM as well if you feel up to it. :) Have a good night! *hug*

Yep, and finished my chapter, so it was a good day's work. :) I'm kind of exhausted now, though. :P How was your day?
Yay - getting the GOGbear again :)

Theodore's better than the 500, at least. :P

Board games are fun! Nice to hear you had a good evening. What did you play?

Definitely. We played some Carcassonne and Phase 10 (hmm...not a board game but a card game:P)...

OK, my GOG Star Wars games backup is going faster than I thought. I was able to use a higher speed connection today. (visiting with family at a relatives' house.... Mother's Day celebration and all ;)

Downloaded Empire At War and Battlefront II, which totals to 10+ GB. Took a little while, but it went a lot faster compared to how long it would have taken on my DSL connection. That was most of what I plan to download too. Now I only have, say, 4+ GB worth left to download. That can be done over the next few days.

Anyways, enough of my ramblings. Happy Mother's Day to all mothers here, and hope everyone's having a good day/evening. ;)
Also excuse the double post, but...

-laughs- I did all my downloading on the DSL connection I have here. Half a megabyte a second if I'm lucky and don't run anything else that uses bandwidth, otherwise it drops to roughly 350 kilobytes a second.
Prime reason why I'm not jumping into the idea of downloading my stuff again now that most of the installers have the bits needed to work with Galaxy. It'd take a frigging month solid to do it all.

Looking forward to running through Empire at War. Did an Empire run a while back with a relative's retail copy, then it showed up here, so now I can see what the expansion pack criminal run is like.

On the "faster connection" I was using it took 1.6 megabytes per second at best, 800-900 kb/s at worst. That's pretty darn fast compared to DSL.

Now for the slow task of downloading everything else...... 4GB, I can do this......

Oh yeah, it's still doable, so long as the downloader works. I wouldn't risk huge downloads with a normal browser, it'd probably crash before completing.
For me, a gig takes roughly half an hour to 40 minutes. If your speed's similar, it's less than 3 hours.

Got about 10 items from the latest sale, and it took most of the day because of the Spellforce stuff.
