Doing gardening work when one's lower back is already biting them is not a good idea, trust me. But my pots look nice now!

Be careful not to strain yourself too much. :P Good to hear your plants are looking good, though!

So youre havin backpain too? I totally feel you! x(
I spent the entire day watching Dr Who and Adventure Time.People say that Adventure Time gets a lot better in later seasons but I'm liking it so far.
Evening all :)

Sometimes I really wish I could be more focused and motivated... just been looking through my old files and found all sorts of snippets of stories and my unfinished first attempt at a novel... and you know what? I can write. Some of this stuff is really good (if I do say so myself).
I can't believe I put down so much stuff for that book, 44 chapters worth of planning plus 14k words worth of history. Nevermind the 60k words of the original story that I wrote and discarded before deciding it needed reworking...
Someday, I'll get back round to it...

How is everyone?
Well, my work for the day is done. My shoulder injury is hurting a fair bit, but at least I managed to finish another chapter of my thesis. Only one more and the conclusion to go!

If I may, I'd recommend you try out The National Novel Writing Month. NaNoWriMo is the only reason I ever get any writing done. Thanks to this I manage to finish a book every year, while previously my writing would sit unfinished for ages.

You've been very hardworking (fleißig as the Germans would say). :-)

When do you expect to have your thesis finished?

And what is this I hear about a shoulder injury?

And where can one get their hands on your work?

I was about to make a bad joke about how you could stitch everything together and present it as a work of grotesque or something, but now that FearfulSymmetry made a constructive suggestion, my joke sounds even worse.

Are you a person that works well under deadlines? If so, you should probably follow her advice.

Yeah, I might give it a try this year. If I can get myself motivated I might even be able to finish something before then, we'll just have to see.

... by the end of this week? If all goes well at least. :P Then I have one more week for editing after I return from England, and then I have to hand it in. :)

Basically, I fainted with my head against a wall and I'm still enjoying the results. :) Typing aggravates the injury, but tell that to my thesis.

Unfortunately I haven't published any of my work yet, but I'm thinking about self-publishing one of my sci-fi novels in the summer or so. I don't expect to make much money and I intend on giving it a low price, but we'll see. I'll need to find a proper cover artist first, though. :P

If you need a buddy/mentor by then, just shoot me a message. Sometimes a little support can go a long way. :)

To be honest, that's almost what I've got in mind.. just stealing all the various ideas for stories and characters I've had over the years and stitching them together into one coherent whole..

You should give it a go if you've got something finished, self publishing is very easy these days.
Depending on how complicated a cover you want (i.e, if you want it quite simple) I could give you a hand... I'm fairly pleased with the pixel art cover I did for mine...

And thank you, I'll see how it goes :)

Yeah, I really should. This novel still needs some light editing that I haven't been able to find the time for recently, but I should be able to do it in the summer. That's a good-looking cover! I have some basic editing skills myself but I've also been toying with the idea of commissioning a drawing or digital painting for the cover.

NaNo is a great motivator, although the last several years I've been unable to participate due to timing. I have to say that Write or Die is an amazing program, too - it was originally developed for NaNo, and has expanded into its own thing. I've owned both versions and love them. Because of v1, I once wrote 10,000 words in a day for a story I'd been procrastinating on for months. (I don't recommend that, btw; my hands were ready to fall off by the end of that afternoon, but I had a deadline.)

Write or Die is awesome. I used it religiously two years ago or so. I haven't been using it much recently, but it's an incredible motivator. I especially love the 'delete words if you don't write' mode.

My record stands at 11000, and I think I'm unlikely to beat that anytime soon, especially with the injury. :)

How about Camp Nano? Does that have better timing for you?
