moonshineshadow: The size will probably decrease to the normal installers once the client is downloading standalone installers and then installs and not this seperate thing we have now.

EndreWhiteMane: I hope so, at this point it appears to be downloading the installed version as my install folder is now 1.9gb in size.
It needs to download and use the installer and then give us the option to save it or discard after installation.
The giant problem is making everything compatible with automatic updates on GOG's end.
I think something like this is already being worked on, at least this post sounds like it:

In worst case it could mean that the huge files will be the installers/backups in the future. But lets hope for the best.

A possible explanation for the size increase is that when installing it doesn't download an installer and then runs it. But copies the files directly to your computer, thus the file transfer is also the installation. Hogging bandwidth but saving disk space.

Thus you don't download one huge compressed file. But the uncompressed individual files from the online repository.

That would explain the "number of connections" slider in the settings.
I believe you're quite right here.
The downside is if I want a copy of the standalone installer I have to download it separately.
Now I've just used 3 times the bandwidth for a single game.

I'm OK, just a bit achey and tired.
Not sure about Galaxy yet, it has a lot to improve on but looks promising.

My main concern is the download size.
For example the Black Mirror installer is 1gb in size, Galaxy had to download 2gb to install the game.
Very much a bandwidth hog. ;/
Hum... hope you won't be bothered by these aches too long...

Well depends. I have a training tomorrow for a possible temp job along the university but otherwise i might visit the 826. Port Anniversary this weekend - don't think i can make it today already :)

I stand reminded and corrected, Steam almost certainly does this, but doesn't give you any option once the game is installed because... look something shiny!
