Galaxy installs all games on your computer just like always.
If a game is already installed you may just have to 'import' it into Galaxy, if it's new enough it will work.
Older (not updated on your machine to Galaxy compatible) will have to be re-installed through Galaxy.
If you install to the same path it should not leave you with 2 installed versions.

Hope some of that makes sense, we just played with it to figure it out.

I'm OK, just a bit achey and tired.
Not sure about Galaxy yet, it has a lot to improve on but looks promising.

My main concern is the download size.
For example the Black Mirror installer is 1gb in size, Galaxy had to download 2gb to install the game.
Very much a bandwidth hog. ;/

What? 1gb difference? Huh..so the galaxy versions are less compressed i assume...

The size will probably decrease to the normal installers once the client is downloading standalone installers and then installs and not this seperate thing we have now.

Except when it does. In my case it did so with Sam & Max Save the world, due to the names of the directories being different to those of the new galay-compatible installer. Which more or less confirms what I thought about galaxy doing a checksum of what you have installed against what galaxy expects to be installed.

Actually, I would think the galaxy version is not compressed at all.

A possible explanation for the size increase is that when installing it doesn't download an installer and then runs it. But copies the files directly to your computer, thus the file transfer is also the installation. Hogging bandwidth but saving disk space.

Thus you don't download one huge compressed file. But the uncompressed individual files from the online repository.

That would also explain the "number of connections" slider in the settings.

I hope so, at this point it appears to be downloading the installed version as my install folder is now 1.9gb in size.
It needs to download and use the installer and then give us the option to save it or discard after installation.
The giant problem is making everything compatible with automatic updates on GOG's end.
