EndreWhiteMane: Two of them are the very best that exist too.
I'm not a Star Wars junkie but I am a trekkie. :-)
avatar
ddickinson: Nerd! :-)

Only joking. *big hug*

Which two are the best that exist? I have only played one of them, but I am not really that big a fan of Star Trek or Star Wars. But at least there are more women in Star Trek. Star Wars is a bit of a sausage fest. :-)

Also, hello again, everyone!
*big hug* I just realised that Endres wishlist is even worse than yours....

*big tired return hug*

Interesting. I am so tempted to just gift him the game and complete his wishlist. But I think he is holding back on us. Perhaps a bit of persuasion will help him add some more games to the list. :-)

EndreWhiteMane: 25th and Rites are the best, Academy is just OK.

ddickinson: So it appears I have only played the okay one. One of my brothers used to have it, on about 7 discs, I think. I did not really know anything about Star Trek, but we used to play the game together and it was quite fun.

How are the two adventure games, would you say you have to know about Star Trek to enjoy them?
It would help being at least a bit familiar with the crew. I am so it's hard to say if I would like them otherwise.
I've played these since they came out, I was an Original Series junkie back then. :-)

moonshineshadow: More Star stuff, even if it is a different sort ;-)
*goes back to work*
But Moon, they're point and clicks! :-)

My wishlist is currently under reconstruction so please, no gifting atm. :-)

Ah good *relieved hug* I can understand if there are not a lot of games on a wishlist, but only one would have been depressing ;-)

I'll take a closer look at them once I am home :-)
You said they are good ones right?

While I enjoy point-and-click games, I will have to have a closer look before I think about adding them to my wishlist, especially if they are better suited for fans of the series.

But that game is so lonely on the wishlist, it looks so sad by itself. But okay. No gifting, at the moment. But we expect your wishlist completed before the summer sale! Or else. :-)
I never much cared for Star Trek.

But I'll watch it if nothing else is on.

The two point and clicks are considered by most to be the best Star Trek games made.
It's time for me to replay them, it's been years. ;)
At least EIT will be happy, he is also a Star Trek nerd, as well as a Star Wars nerd. Double nerdness, poor guy. :-)

Have to admit TOS has lost a lot of appeal as I gotten older but Next Generation is still a favorite.

Sadly "Live long and prosper" won't fit in my forum title.
Moon would love it. :-O

Those two do look interesting. Will end up grabbing them at some point.
It's also been years, only in my case it's been that long since playing anything related to Star Trek at all.
Okay, so who exactly invented Abandonware? I was just looking at a review for the games, and they kept saying you can get them for free as they are Abandonware. Now when I hear that, I just hear people stealing old games and claiming it's okay because they are old. Yet copyright law lasts for about a hundred years, so unless the developer makes the game public domain, where did all this Abandonware come from and why do people actually think it's a real thing and thus acceptable to steal games just because they are old. Or am I missing something here?

You're right, abandonware is a convenience term. I use it, but only if I find I can't purchase the game anywhere.

Is there some law in the US that makes software abandonware if it is neglected for a certain amount of time, or is that just the word people have used to describe software that the developers no longer support?

Sounds good, I know the old films, so I should be fine playing them right?

It's used to describe games developers don't support or sell. It's not a legal term, GOG can't say, "Well, this is abandonware, so we can sell it." If they could, there'd be hundreds more games in the catalog, easily.
