penumbren: Heya all!

So.... I'm using this nifty new Galaxy beta. I skimmed the last few pages and saw that some of you have been having issues importing games. I'm not an expert, so I'm not offering solutions. ;P Just wanted to say that I have about a dozen games installed at the moment and they vary from "installed pre-Galaxy and picked up fine" to "installed using Galaxy without a problem" to "only worked in Galaxy post-unbundling but picked up after using unbundled standalone installer."

I've sent a few friend requests. I've had some excellent conversations with people via chat in Steam and other services, although I tend to leave them open so I look like I'm around when I'm not. (Sorry not sorry?) If I sent you a request and you're not interested, okay - your choice. Just please don't get all huffy and rude - there's no way I'll be able to keep up with who wants what and who doesn't want things and who's offended by the whole concept. I still plan on hovering around the edges of the forum, as I have, but IM/PM/chat is probably a better way to get hold of me quickly than a forum post.

On a totally different note, I may put out a plug or two for the project that my husband and I are working on. It's a home/permaculture/business thing - he's super optimistic about short-term achievements with it, while I'm more pessimistic about timelines, but at least it gives us something to work toward while planning how to get out of our current not-wonderful living situation.

One annoying thing about the forums in Galaxy - the popup window for "new post" is truncated slightly on the right side, just as it is in Chrome. I'm assuming it's because I have Chrome set to the first auto-zoom (110%, maybe?) because of the ridiculous amount of white space the GOG website has on widescreen monitors/screens, but it's weird that Galaxy would also pick that up.
Right now, aside from the games I actively have installed, Galaxy's not picking up on anything.
In all probability, I'm totally screwed and have to download all my installers again.

Also? I am getting all kinds of huffy. How dare you indicate an interest in speaking with me by sending me a friend request. The nerve of some people! ;)

Hopefully the project works out well for you and yours, so you're not eventually stuck with the scenario of a 3 am shitbag roommate dumpster corpse disposal.

Can't say much about Chrome-type problems, since I only use Firefox. Maybe as time goes on there'll be a way to remedy the problem you're having.

moonshineshadow: *welcome hug* I hope you'll still visit us here in the thread :-)
Since while the chat function of the client it is not very useful if you can not use the client for different reasons (like work) and then the thread here is great :D

penumbren: Oh, definitely useless at work! Like I said, I'll still be around the forum. I'm one of those people who like all the "useless social crap," though. :)

For instance, one-on-one chat is where I'm more likely to get into depth with people, as opposed to a public forum, no matter how friendly. And I like game time tracking and achievements - you can probably blame Nintendo and WoW, respectively, for those. Well, maybe Squaresoft more than Nintendo; the first time I saw game time tracking was in the Final Fantasy games, AFAIK. And WoW achievements are good for pointing out strange yet fun things to do. (I still want to know where the pirates in Booty Bay on Talk Like a Pirate Day hang out for the rest of the year, though.)
Oh I agree that achievements can be fun. But for me that remains to achievements ingame like in WoW, not some achievements given to me by some client :-)

Greetings! :)

I like the one-on-one chat too, for the same reasons, and it is also a nice change of pace for keeping in touch with people. (plus it is easier to talk to one person than having a conversation with three or more at the same time like in the threads) :)

Hi there lady! :-)
Plug away, the idea of eating my landscape intrigues me. :-)
You can PM me with links if you have them.

I've always preferred an 'open forum' where everyone can benefit from the knowledge, humor and such of others.
We have PMs for 'personal' stuff.
I agree chat would be great for 'in-game' stuff.

EndreWhiteMane: 1.) I was just successful in adding a game to Galaxy right from my downloaded installer, most won't work that way.
2.) I have been unsuccessful at adding some games that are already installed to Galaxy.
All seems to be about what version of who you have, and if you hold your mouth just right. ;-)

j0ekerr: Additionally you have to take into account the feng-shui of the computer relative to the room, wether you have slit enough turtles' neck to the dark gods of computing and wether the cabbalistic runes in the circle of power are made with chalk or vogon's blood.
Almost forgot to mention - you suck for saying the phrase "feng shui". The new book for that game just came out, so now I have another item I have to decide whether or not to buy right now.

I saw your install issues, which sucks immensely. I think I might have dodged that particular bullet in that I only downloaded all the standalone installers about two weeks ago (over about four and a half days of near-constant downloading - I'm sure Cox had a fit about us going over our non-enforced "limit," but oh well).

And darn it, Crow, how dare you get huffy about my wanting to be able to speak with you! Some friend you are. :P

That's part of the general hope, and a large part of the current push. (Also, thank you for the immediate laugh!) Since it'd be almost entirely dependent on crowdfunding at this point in time, I'm not holding out a lot of hope for immediate change, but you never know.

I already put in my first wishlist item for Galaxy - let us change the freaking font size! It's coming up at around 8 - 10 point, which is barely doable for extremely-near-sighted-glasses-wearing-me.

Yeah. It's part of the galaxy beta and creates phantom-notifications on the site which can only be resolved in Galaxy ;).
