Did you read it in German or English (or Japanese...)?

I... can't read Murakami in German. I of course would love to read him in Japanese, but (obvious reason here).
And even though the books are now translated from Japanese to German directly (and not from English, like in the past) I still have the strong feeling that the English translations are magnitudes better, more sensitive, more rich, less vulgar regarding sex (which is a recurring theme).

For 1Q84: Well it's a really slow book. Sometimes painfully slow. And with a lot of repetition (but told with slightly different nuances). I guess it's a love or hate thing. I liked it, although I stalled on my second read. My favourite is still "Kafka on the Shore" (read 4 times) with a close second of "Dance Dance Dance" (read 3 times).

Well actually it was my first attempt at Murakami (in German, the public library don't offer english versions or japanese ones but my japanese is extremely limited to sy the least ;).
Yeah the book is slow. That i realized early. So any tips for a start with Murakami? Any of your favourites?

I guess I would an equally lost case. I can't play shooter with a gamepad. I need to be able to turn around in a split second and at the same time be able to follow a slow moving target. And I detest auto-aiming. I need my mouse...

I get a little teary eyed when I remember my early PS2 days.Me,the console,my games and piles upon piles of gaming magazines all in the cheats section.

The first book I read was "Kafka on the Shore". And I was totally hooked. And I recently gave it to a friend who was equally hooked. So that could be one for a start. My dad IIRC started with "A Windup Bird Chronicle" which is also awesome. I think 1Q84 is a masterpiece but it takes some Murakami experience to stomach it. So my first recommendation would be Kafka. And the English version, if you can get your hands on it. It's one of favourite books of all time, so... My view may be slightly based.

What made you think of your PS2? I recently found mine in the attic, as well as my Gamecube.

But the basic concept of a dual-stick ontroller ins't that new.

Playing Battlefront 2.That was easily in my top 10 PS2 games.

My weekend has been wonderful, thank you. Sadly the weather spoiled my plans for the day (horse riding and things like that), but I still had a lovely day at home.
