What i found interesting when i was in Dublin was that irish terms were quite common but a lot of people didn't speak it very well.
(Garda Síochána was Garda Shi-cana iirc...?)

Yeah, that sounds about right... I think the correct pronunciation is something like Gaurd-a She-o-cana, but to be honest most people in Ireland can't speak very well full stop...
