IAmSinistar: Hello kiddywinks! Back from the hols, looks like not a lot has changed on the GOG storefront. Hopefully they're getting over the multiple hangovers and will have some new titles for us soon.
How is everyone's new year starting off?
Welcome back Mr. Space Cheese, I hope you enjoyed your holidays. How is everyone's new year starting off?
I notice there's a plethora of formerly unknown (to me) WRI-TING TALENT in this thread. Which is not surprising considering the odes and sagas some have bestowed upon us.
As for me, my guilty embarrasing pleasure is fanfiction.
Ahem.
Before you start, let me say that there is such a thing as good fanfiction. However it is found at the bottom of a pit of sewage-like writing that it's seldom worth the effort to search for it. Yes most fanfics are bad, really bad. I try to read them from an ironic point of view, to MST3K'ify them, but even with that mindset most of them are rubbish. They don't even manage to be "so bad it's good" material, they're just regular bad, and their worst offences are being both boring and embarrasing to read.
However there are some gems from quite talented writers that are a delight to read.
I prefer to read than write. There's enough bad writing out there already. However sometimes, I read a story with an interesting premise, but a disappointing development. At which point my mind begins to wander about what could have been. Atnd then, the plot bunnies attack.
A small recommendation: I found out about this particular author who's writing a crossover fic, with two extremely unlikely franchises. And succeeds at melding them perfectly by showing us how ridiculous that mix actually is. You could say that the whole fic is a huge lampshade hanging. One that never stops being funny.
