toxicTom: *Welcome hug* then :-)

Your story did not bore me at all. Kudos for joining FSF and GNU - both of those organizations have my deep respect. And web-rings, I guess not many people remember them.
What games did you mod back in the day?

When it comes to international communities, GOG is a very good place to stay. We have people from all over the world. Sometimes they share their stories, be they funny, sad, terrifying or just plain strange. Ugh, I just remembered the guy from South Africa with that gang trying to assault his home and his elderly father trying to drive them away from the "Bitch about life"-thread - luckily nobody was seriously harmed in that incident.
HUGS ({})

If webrings are already forgotten then the BBS, ftp and Usenet really would have been inappropriate as too ancient?
The early 1990s were exciting times for computer entrepreneurs until the DOTCOM Wall Street bubble burst.
In fact, rarely talked about, the world's economy never fully recovered from the "Y2K" scare...

Then the epidemic of consecutive institutional disasters: in 2001 the 9/11, Afghan 2.0, Iraq 2.0, 2008 "Great recession", Libya, Syria, Egypt, Ukraine, economic sanctions against Russia...

I may have left out some events but the 21st century is 180 degree out of phase with what my generation had hopes for the future 21st century to become.

I am now convinced this current sad state of world affairs is a necessary part of a great transition, outing the institutional governance rot and systemic contagion that needs to be permanently removed...
Perhaps the 22nd century will reveal an advanced community of People world wide. In that vein P2P is a promising trend.

Uhm..
- Primordia
- Gemini Rue
- Resonance
- Blackwell Bundle

I think these are all..
Hmm... this Toren game does not look too bad. I need to remember checking it more carefully when it is released.

I started with Blackwell, and I thought it was a good series. The opening to the first one drags a tiny bit, but once you get past that it's awesome. I thought Primordia was really good as well, it's very atmospheric. Resonance has several main characters, so if you like that it's also a good place to start. I haven't finished Gemini Rue yet.

Start with the Blackwells, I'd suggest. :)
