If I gave you a non-spoilery explanation of what you're missing you'd be fine for most of the game, but there's an essential cutscene near the end. You'll likely be able to pick up on what happened from what will still be in the game, but it's a kind of lame way for the main reveal to go down.

Yes, that's really difficult, and sometimes you just don't feel like playing. Sometimes I even return to playing games I've already finished just because I can play them quickly for a bit without losing track of what's going on. I'm planning to catch up on my new games over my summer holidays, though, when I'll have more time.
