I don't want to get into a debate here but I always found it ironic that most states which sell alcohol refuse to make marijuana legal! :P

Mind you the strongest thing I do now is Tylenol so maybe I shouldn't be allowed in the conversation. XD

I alway go back and forth on this. On the one hand I do drink so I'm a bit of a hypocrite. And on the other hand, I look at the total failure at regulating other "drugs" (cigarettes and alcohol) and the number of deaths associated with those that I wonder why we're so eager to add another to the list (yes I do think marijuana can significantly alter brain chemisty especially when used over the long term and started at a young age. Yes I do also concede that some of the worst evils of marijuana can be mitigated by not smoking it and instead ingesting it or doing whatever people do. Yes I do realize that many people use marijuana and suffer no ill effects just like many people drink and do the same).

Now if you'll excuse me I have to go sit on the deck while drinking an oak aged sour, puffing a cigar and listening to the baseball game... like I said... hypocrite ;)

Random OT mini-vent of the day:

A headache is NOT conducive to trying to figure out the SQL Server Report Designer, let alone why it keeps kicking back a connection error even though it's connected to the database.

This is what I get for forgetting that I had access to the Report Designer for four months and trying to force-learn some shortcuts to be able to double-check a terminology change on reports without having taken the time to get used to RD when I was first given the link. (On top of being an absolute novice about SQL, having only just started poking at it last fall and knowing only bare-bones basics.)

Must remember to actually take time and learn the SQL/RD instead of randomly poking at different parts of it as needed.

*sigh*

I'm not a huge fan of Ults and haven't followed the last few years of it, but I quite liked the Ults version of Tony Stark. Also, I'm a bit of a comics/Iron Man geek. (My Facebook icon is actually from Iron Man Noir, because that series was amazing.)

Wasn't the Ults Tony Stark more of a drunkard than he is in the normal universe?

Ults!Tony is an active and gleeful alcoholic, as he's using the alcohol to counteract (sort of) the side effects of all the medication he's on for his brain cancer. Normal (616) Tony is a recovering alcoholic and has been for years. (Well... mostly. I'm still bitter about the crappy writing from the Fear Itself event. Other than that, he's been sober for years in the comics.)

The movies draw heavily from the Ultimates setting for all of the characterizations*, which is why alcohol features so prominently in the Iron Man movies.

*This has led to some hilarity, if you're familiar with the comics, since they were established well before the movies were even thought of, let alone made. Ult!Nick Fury was based on Samuel L. Jackson, to the point where they just outright drew SLJ for the character. He also has a line in one of the first Ultimates comics, wherein newly-awakened Captain America is apologizing for breaking his nose (after freaking out upon being reawakened in the modern day), and his comeback is, "Don't worry about it - it's been smashed more often than Robert Downey, Jr."

I'm a huge fan of NL baseball and the way the manager has to juggle pitching changes vs the needs of the batting lineup at any given moment; especially when they get into the 5th+ inning of a tight game with a chance to score some runs. I also LOVE that both leagues are different as it's great to watch AL managers have to deal with the lack of a DH and NL managers / pitchers adapt to the "longer" AL lineups. The day The Commish makes the DH mandatory for both leagues will be a sad day for me.

I'm going to assume this is something, ah... lost in translation. Yeah, that's it... ;)

I've been torn on this one. Much like the space based one (The Pit I think it's called?) I go back and forth on whether or not I think it would be fun as hell or tedious. One of these days, when my "games I want to play" and "games I want" lists are a bit shorter I'll have to find out.

I don't know what that means either. :P

*edit to add: LOL that's great - and this was well prior to the first Iron Man film? If so, what a perfect bit of foresight. I admit that while I have a tiny bit of knowledge of comic characters I've never really read them, so that's a bit funny to me as I find RDJ's Iron Man / Tony Stark to be fantastic.
