Good morning *wave* Why am I not surprised that you show up once the weekend promo starts? :P
How are you today?

moonshineshadow: My money is save this week *yeah*
Hmm, nice promo. A few things there I'm kind of interested in but nothing that leaps out as have to buy now at this price kind of deal.

And following on from our discussion of FTL and it's somewhat unforgiving nature I have a question:
Do you consider yourself to be good at games?

When me and my brother used to play games as kids I was never really great, if we played anything against each other he usually won. When i used to play Counterstrike regularly i wasn't very good. I rarely finished a lot of games and while I always enjoyed playing I never considered myself particularly great at it.
These days I would have to say my skills have greatly improved, other than games or modes known to be very challenging I haven't really struggled much with a game in years. But I mostly play single player games so never test myself against others anymore and it's hard to know how much is my skills improving and how much is games getting easier. I doubt I would be very good if thrown into multiplayer in an FPS or RTS against seasoned players, but there is a part of me that wonders if I played those kind of games regularly again would I be better at them now than I used to be.
But overall I would say that these days I am pretty good, abd if I don't finish a game now it's because I get bored or distracted, not because I am unable.

moonshineshadow: Can't comment on them, have played neither. But Vertical Drop Hero is nice for times where you only have 20-30mins. You can play a round, smash some monsters, unlock some things and continue later on in another round. Had a lot of fun with it :-)
Thank you. That looks certainly interesting and it also has co-op, nice :).

I only own one... and there is nothing on my wishlist. Safe wallet!! \o/

ElTerprise: Hmm... any suggestions from the weekend promo? I'm thinking of getting Dragon Commander and Banner Saga because they're on my wishlist but i'm not sure about the other games....
I've played a couple hours of "The Ball", and found it enjoyable. A first-person puzzler, where you have to solve the puzzles by using your magnetic "gun" to push and pull a giant ball around... Fun and challenging :-)
Anyone played Desktop Dungeons?
I had a closer look at the games to see if perhaps there was something that should have been on my wishlist and this one looks a bit interesting, but I am not really sure about it.

By all accounts Banner Saga is excellent, but I've yet to take the plunge because despite being discounted regularly it's still (relatively) expensive when on sale, anf isn't supposed to be all that long.

Not sure about Dragon Commander although I do like the idea of it.

How are you today?
Because I'm a near-hopeless sale junkie? -laughs-

Doing all right here. Nothing from the sale for me, already have more than half of it and the rest isn't on my list.
Waiting for some food to cook at the moment. Ribs are really good, but the waiting game to get them right isn't meshing well with my natural impatience.

How are you doing today?

I just bought "Inherit the Earth", because it was on my wishlist too...
I don't know about the rest... I only played Triple Town, and it's a really nice little game !!
(and, my Fallout fell off my shelf too !... ô__ô)

So it's similar to Portal? I really liked Portal and i would take a closer look at this game then :).

I haven't played the version on sale here, but there was a free version out at some point (not sure wether it's still available) that I played. It's like a roguelike in miniature, with a hint of puzzle game (you heal on levelling, so you have to plan your way around the level killing the enemies in the right order so you maximise healing)
I quite enjoyed it, and would recommend it if that sounds at all interesting :)

Now I am getting hungry. And still hours to go until I can go home and cook something nice ;-(

I am doing ok, working on expanding my simulation and on preparing a new paper :-)

That does not sound too bad. But I am not hundred percent sure. I think I need to think this over during the weekend. Thanks :-)

Yeah that's reason i'm not 100% sure about Banner Saga...I've seen video about Dragon Commander and i think i'll getting that for sure.

And to answer your other question. I would consider myself a decent player. But i would certainly get my ass kicked in multiplayer ;).

I'd recommend trying the free version to see if you like the basic idea. If it's not available anymore I'm sure I'll still have the installer somewhere if you wanted.
