l0rdtr3k: Morning all!
Morning *big hug*. How are you today? :)
Edit: just read that you're tired. Hope that's getting better soon :).

AgentBirdnest: Our weather has been the opposite of what it should be. We had record-high temperatures all winter, and now it is getting cold. It even snowed last week.
I love the cold though, so I'm not complaining :-)
We also had quite mild winter (but i don't think we had record-high temperatures) but we finally got our Spring ;) with temperatures constantly above 10°C (i assume it's 50°F) and no rain probably for the last week which is highly unusual...

AgentBirdnest: I figure I'll take a walk in our lovely canyon today (the only lovely thing about this city.) What about you?
How was your evening, by the way? Spend some good time with your friend?
Great idea !! :) a canyon... awesome... here we have only small tailings artificial mounts, called "terrils", not very exciting :D
My evening was great, thanks ! We played "A Golden Wake" together, and solved the first chapter... :-)
What about you ? Did you spend a nice evening ?...

ElTerprise: Glad to hear that.
BTW: I played a bit ToME last night. Apart from dying horribly in it ^^ i tried the ASCII tileset...that was certainly interesting :).
But the game crashed a bit (on windows) which was unexpected
Sorry, got distracted reading old posts in the thread to catch up a bit more XD

It's probably because I'm used to old school roguelikes, but I couldn't play ot with normal tile graphics... ASCII all the way for me.
I haven't had any issues with it.. although I do seem to remember having problems when I first started and was messing around with the options (changing some settings seemed to require a restart)
I've been playing it a lot, largely because it's just easy to pick up. The more I play it the more it reminds me or Diablo. It's like a middle ground step between full on old fashioned roguelikes and modern Diablo style RPGs (or whatever you call them).

(looking at pictures of "terrils") ... Huh... Interesting. Maybe I'll take a picture of our canyon today while I'm out and upload it.

... A... A Golden Wake? ... ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!? .... because... I'm not kidding, I played that for the first time last night :-| (Thank you again, by the way! You sent it to me! :-D)
... I can't believe we played the same thing :-)

No problem. I just installed yesterday on my windows laptop too and wondered that it crashed as didn't any issues so far on linux (apart from the cursor thingy which is fine on windows...). Yeah it's definitely an interesting game but i haven't played as as i wanted to yet...

I have to say though, as much as I love roguelikes I'm starting to get a little frustrated with all they dying and starting over. I think its partially because the classes have a fairly linear progression (so far with a lot of them I seem to choose the same skills every time) so until I unlock a few new ones I just keep doing the same thing. Plus while it does point you in a direction of where you should be going the dungeons it says to explore tend to be rock hard even with a bit of extra levelling, so I'm exploring around the world map which invariably means I go somewhere I shouldn't, die, and have to start over.

Yeah. I'm still not getting used to it completely which is odd as i didn't had a problem with dying in FTL....

Actually i think i wouldn't have noticed it but i updated my wikipage and i saw that Fallout from shelf. For the most other people were complaining about it stayed at my shelf but since last week or so it's vanishes and return pretty much constantly.
But that issues should be resolved when they update the user sysem if i'm not mistaken...

Yeah it can get frustrating. The worst thing i had was dying in the first encounte in the game and i didn't make it to the final level yet. But i still really like the game though :).

There is a final level ? ... ô__ô ... I never make it to more than the 2nd screen...

Yeah, I like it... It isn't really amazing, but I'm having fun. (It is certainly no Blackwell... but nothing is :-p)
So far, the story isn't interesting to me at all, and I don't really care about the characters... And the puzzles are quite easy... But I really enjoy the setting. And as usual with Wadjet Eye games, I think the art, voices, and music are great.
So... I don't think it is an outstanding game (yet), but I'm still having fun :-)

I'll try to take a picture of the canyon today and post it :-)

Apparently so. The furthest i got was the third star system or so...but the is a sector which is supposed to be the last stand or so
