CarrionCrow: As soon as I saw the person playing Kirk, I knew it wouldn't happen.
If I want to watch someone in that role, I'll dig up episodes full of 60's Shatner cheese to enjoy. =)
avatar
ElTerprise: Haha. Good decision :). I had some expectations but i was really disappointed after watching the first one....
But i was more a fan of the 24th century shows (TNG and DS9 , voyager not so much) anyway
Used to watch Next Generation reruns when I was much younger. That's the show I have the most exposure to by far.
But there is a certain appeal to finding some local channel running random episodes of the original in the middle of the night. All nighters and any kind of serious 60's to 70's B-grade movie or show seem to go together well.

Yeah. I watched some episodes of the 60s show "The Avengers" (the UK one) on ARTE (one of the few good channels we have imho) and it was great. There's definitely a charm to it :).

CarrionCrow: I'd be willing to bet that quite a few people have passed on the whole thing, considering it to be wall-to-wall softcore fetish porn. Makes decent anime that much trickier to find, since all that crap needs to be weeded out.

That's a heavy burden, with a whole lot of awful things to be exposed to. Will keep fingers crossed for better dreams.
Bad enough to deal with it once, no need to get stuck having to do so again and again.

It happens. Something can be off-putting at a glance, and your first impression goes with that.
I was interested after seeing the video review for Oath in Felghana, but didn't want to settle for a rental.
Pleasantly surprising that they're all coming here so I can actually own them.
The same could be said for good games these days. Good anime is buried among all the creepy and horrible anime, and good games are hidden among all the indie crap we get now.

I brought the burden on myself, I took the job to help out a friend who worked there, and I was told the kind of things I would run into. I could tell you some really horrific stories that I heard and saw there, but don't worry, I will spare you all that :-). I will be perfectly fine, but thank you for the concern. The only month that gives me any problems with bad dreams/memories is August, which was the months I was attacked on. I have always suffered nightmares of the whole thing every year since it happened, mostly focusing on my friends death overall. But that's nothing I need to bother anyone with, just some of the stuff life loves to burden me with.

You are right about first impressions. When I have some more time for gaming I will take another look at the games and see if I get a different impression this time.

I've noticed the greatest effect when watching old episodes of Mystery Science Theater late at night.
If the movies don't put me to sleep, it's enjoyable to watch. Better atmosphere when it's dark.

LaPtiteBete: Hum... Sounds like -you- need extra-big comforting hugs ?...
** Extra strong paracetamol Hug **

AgentBirdnest: Oh... thank you :-) ... You are so lovely!

... I think we killed the thread... ** Supportive "partners-in-crime" hug **
Why do you think we killed the thread ? ô__ô

Now i have to take your for word it. Haven't seen any episode of Mystery Science Theater yet. But it sounds reasonable. I had similar effects with watching late at night :).

Hello, wonderful Owl!

*Big return happy hug*

I am doing good today, how is your day? I hope you are doing okay, despite the lack of sleep?

I did see that Moon was feeling "good" again, it put a big smile on my face.

CarrionCrow: Oh yeah, they absolutely wasted that character. They had all the personality of a chunk of cardboard covered in red paint.
To go from Vader and the Emperor to that makes me think Lucas was huffing glue throughout all stages of production.
avatar
ElTerprise: But thankfully (NOT!) we got Jar-Jar BInks instead :P...*sigh*....They ruined it
Totally agree... Jar-Jar Binks is the worst character ever !!! I was just talking about it only yesterday !! ):-|

I though you two had silenced everyone so you could go and steal their stars. :-)

How are you today, I hope you are doing well?

Very true. One of the best things I did was wipe out my rental wishlist. Otherwise it'd probably be packed with small games that I had a sliver of interest in.
There are a few items like Crypt of the Necrodancer, Darkest Dungeon and Serpent in the Staglands that I want, but the independent market is utterly awash in bottom of the barrel crap.

Can't say I've done anything on that scale. The closest I got was spending pretty much 24 hours a day trying to help people by listening to their stories.
In the end, all that happened was hearing about a lot of awful shit and overloading from doing it for months.

Yeah...life's a bit of a bastard sometimes, to put it mildly. Good people buried in horrible things and having to dig themselves out without going crazy in the process.

Well, if you end up liking them, that's good. If not, there's still other stuff on your wishlist. >=)

The earliest ones seem to do it the most. The people don't make fun of the movies as much, so there are long spans of time where you're sitting and watching some really bad films with things like flying radioactive turtles. -laughs-

I'm... ok. Just ok. Glad to see you are doing good :-)
