ddickinson: But also remember that for many people armour did not fit properly. That's why the rich had it custom made, and after a battle people used to loot armour in the hope of finding better armour (quality wise and fitting wise).
Looting in the civil war? More likely than you think.

I doubt it was lord Poofypants personal set though.

The fact remains that armour made for an adult soldier fit snugly on a short 13 year old kid.

And with that I'm retiring for the night as well. Until tomorrow, that is today.

Enjoy your sleep Sir Rabbit.

EndreWhiteMane: Winds have died down a bit which is good, knee's aching but still working.
I'm playing bits of various games and deciding what to have for supper.
Typical boring evening at Endre's house. ;)
Is it still raining, or have you had your share of rain for a while?

Have you been playing any interesting games?

Sorry to hear your knee is still aching. Are you taking some painkillers to help with the discomfort?

*Big get well healing hug*

I am inclined to think it was just small armour. I have been to the Royal Armour museum quite a lot, and the armour looks about the right size. So maybe yours was just a scaled replica, or just actually a small guys armour. While I know people are a little taller now, there would not be that much difference, especially over such a short time, evolution like that takes a long time.

Goodnight, sleep well!

Rained a little today but it's pretty much over for the week.
No pills for the knee, can't with all the others I take. Just a bit of ice.
Not finding any games to interest me for long, just a little of anything that catches my eye.

CarrionCrow: It's all a matter of self-censoring to avoid having to deal with faux patriotic lunatics.

The way I see it, if you're okay with censoring your story, you didn't really believe in it to begin with.
avatar
ddickinson: The sad thing is that it ruins so much. Yes you get the "patriotic lunatics" on board, but you lose so much story. I love to read, and the older American stories (even from the 1950s and 1960s) were quite good, with American winning, losing, everything, and that made the story better. But lately, over the last few decades or so, it seems that it's always a one sided "America saving the world and is just awesome, and the rest of the world sucks" kind of attitude to things. I guess most Americans won't mind that, as who wants to see their country lose or not be shown as incredible, but it really limits the scope and quality of a story.
Take a bunch of people who've been essentially brainwashed into being scared of one thing or another all the time, break them down until they're convinced that anything from a terrorist to an act of love between two consenting adults will be the end of their world, then prop them back up again with delusions of being under the protective wing of an all-benevolent, all-powerful entity who believes in exactly the same things they do...

Bound to make the populace more than a little funny in the head. ;)

That a shame that you can not take any painkillers. Do you have any muscle rub you can use on your knee? When my brother's knee is playing him up he uses something called Deep Heat which works quite well for him. I am not sure if you have that in the US, or if it is called something different.

Actually ice is the best thing for mine, we do have heating rubs but the cold works better.

We need to get you a maid. One who will thwap you in the head with a Nerf bat when you're feeling unwell to take your mind off of things. =)

You need to be careful, if the others find out you are talking like that they will take you away for re-education. :-)

Are you volunteering? Do I need to get you that nurses outfit we mentioned before? :-)

I am glad the ice at least helps. How long are you usually in discomfort with your knee before it gets better?

Fortunately, things aren't quite that bad just yet. Another 50 years, though...
Course, I'll be dead by then, so it'll be someone else's dystopia to contend with.

I'll still have to pass on your continued generous offer. The white dress and stockings don't suit me. ;)

No set time to it. It's been hours, days or weeks. Usually days.

Lucky for you the NHS in the UK does not go for the white dresses and stocking. So would this NHS uniform suit you better? :-)

Well I definitely hope it will not be weeks.

Well, that is closer to my preferred color, but Endre would still do better with the maid.
I have no doubt that he'd be happier. =)

If I got thwapped every time something was wrong with me it'd sound like someone driving around on a flat tire. :-)

Edit: Apparently notifications are working again. I've had 7 in the last few minutes. :/

But a maid would only be good for house work, with his knee he needs a nurse. :-)

There seems to be a strange thing happening with several games getting flagged for unknown reasons (probably due to it being night time in Poland).

In the "what did just update?" thread I have seen about half a dozen games mentioned so far. I am not sure if they have been updated at all, or if it is another glitch. Possibly some Galaxy related thing?
