moonshineshadow: Some barbecue in the afternoon and in the evening going to a musical :D
That sounds really great. What musical are you going to if i may ask?

PimPamPet: Another day, another update to Lure of the Temptress and Beneath a Steel Sky.

Listening to Frank Zappa's The Grand Wazoo now. It's title reminds me of a girl I once knew...

I'm beginning to sound like tinyE now. I should go to the drunk thread, I think.
I noticed updates to these games as well, but when I went to download them, they were the same versions I already had. Are update notices for games on a specific platform? In other words, do I get an update notification if they updated the Linux or OS2 versions of the game?

If so, I hope they'll give us the ability to "opt in" for notifications to updates on a specific platform. It's annoying to go to the page and find out nothing changed (within my field of interest).

moonshineshadow: What do you want to know? :D

l0rdtr3k: The basics and how the hell do I get into them I can't immerse myself by dieing every corner.
Huh? Are you just running around in the world? Because at the beginning you should follow the mainquest until you get a little bit stronger since there are dangerous corners everywhere. And even later, if you go exploring you can easily run into too hard enemies, that just means, run away and come back later ;-)
I am sorry, I am not sure how to really help you, since I am not sure what exactly the problem is, I never felt like there was something special you need to do to get into them. Perhaps you can get a bit more into detail?
Ah yes and for Gothic 1, blocking attacks is really helpful especially when you are not that strong and normally it is no problem to time it right since the enemy attacks are visible.

I've heeard really good things about it and it's a shame i still haven't seen it considering it's played in Hamburg since 2001 ;).
I didn't know it's played in Switzerland as well :).

The problem is that the whole update notification system is bugged. These games are not getting any updates. They are the same as always, they are just showing an update flag.
And yes at the moment you get update notifications regardless of the platform. If the update notifications work at all, since for almost a month, they are often not showing up at all with the exception of games that did not even get an update.

superstande: Well glad it worked out for you. Maybe I will also do that :) Occasionally giving the computer a stern stare to encourage problem-solving :p

CarrionCrow: All else fails, the occasional screamed threat while wielding a hammer or bat sometimes helps. ;)
me and wife did the screaming bit, but forgot the hammer! A-ha. That's the cherry on top we need :)

Interesting...probably better in a multilingual country :).

The last musical i've seen was actually with a swiss cast. It was Spamalot in the version played in Zurich :).
(They had some shows in Hamburg last year)

I wouldn't hold my breath about having options. I'll consider getting a notification flag on the exact content that gets update a huge improvement compared to the mess we have now.

As Moon said, the update notification system is broken beyond hope for just about everyone and every game for a long time now... except for BASS and Lure of the Temptress. I'm inclined to agree with Mr MaGog on this matter.

Maybe because I think the game is too hard like Wizardry hard and I try to do sidequests but I always run into stronger enemies and I also don't know how to progress like get gold to buy better equipment and to train.

Well unfortunately i am... but on a second thought it's riddiculous how i wasn't able to properly translate words like heiß, großartig or fantastisch to english ;)

Anyone else having problems with the site? It's really slow today and Barefoot Essentials takes ages to load properly. I'm getting Gogbear pressing the reply button...*sigh*

Oh lucky you! The only reason I don't go to musicals here is because I hate the Dutch translations. It sounds like you have a fun evening lined up, enjoy it! :)

Dag. So you don't translate (i mean dub) movies and such but musicals?

Hello! And yes, it's a terrible quirk if you ask me. Maybe because there's an impression that more children are going to musicals? We also have this terrible habit where animated movies are only released in cinemas with the Dutch dub. It ticks me off so much because I love animation, but I only want to watch those movies with the original voice acting intact. Somehow there's the impression that if it's animated, it must be for children. The really big ones like Brave and Frozen are available in English for perhaps a week, and afterwards it's purely Dutch. Smaller ones like Big Hero 6 hardly appear in English at all.

Obviously it's the same here, although thankfully many cinemas (i can only speak for Hamburg) now also offer the original versions of (animated) movies (mostly as original with subtitles). This also happens on some special-interest channels like ARTE...

But musicals are always in german if i'm not mistaken....
