Nah.. even virtual hugs sounds too touchy feely... :P

The irony is I do like hugging when it is my partner... just don't like the thought of any other human being touching me... even handshakes are only tolerated...

Sure I can understand that. I really hate it when people try to hug for a greeting and I barely know them.

There is some I don't know how to describe him but asshole who is opening some really strange threads at the moment.

[edit] But it seems like people really reported them, they are gone now.

I traded it for last Friday, which gave me a 4-day weekend, so I can't complain too much. Well, I can, but you all shouldn't listen.

I'm probably with adaliabooks - not a very touchy-feely kind of guy, but I have no problem with virtual hugs. :)

j0ekerr: I'd say there's geography and climate involved. No one wants to drink a warm beer on a hot sunny day. But you can do so with wine. Like I said, beer was known, but not appreciated, until it was possible to drink it cold.

That said, some variety is popping up. Barley pale lager is still the only beer for most. But darker roasts, malt, and wheat varieties are starting to be sold as well.

There is also no concept or even a word for ales.

I can't imagine what drinking a beer in the outback before refrigerators was like. And I don't think I want to.
They had Iceboxes,Blocks of Ice delivered to your home....No TV,so I'm assuming the Pub was the most Popular place to go...Go to the Pub nowadays $4,$5,or higher a scooner...16 ounce glass..Cheers..

Probably going to get a little too real here, but whatever.

I had intense self-esteem problems when I was growing up. The amount of ridicule I suffered at school certainly didn't help matters. I was also incredibly awkward around the opposite sex. So much so that I literally had a girl laugh in my face when I tried to ask if I could hang out with them. All of these things combined made me think I was some sort of troll or goblin or something.

I am much better now. Most people probably wouldn't even notice that I used to live like that. However, when a person offers to shake my hand or comes in for a hug, that little goblin that lives in the back of my mind shrinks a little more. I usually don't try to instigate a hug if it isn't someone that I know very intimately (as I don't want to make someone feel awkward), but I will gladly accept one if it is coming my way.

Psychoses sure are fun. :P

And I have to say. While I love virtual hugs here, physical hugs are not that great for me. I tend to stay away from them if they are not from my family.

Heh, thanks!

I totally get and appreciate the personal bubble. I have more than one good friend who has major issues with that. Still, family and close friends should be able enter that bubble as long as they don't abuse it.
