I love you, GOG. I really do. But sometimes? Your forum is a pile of godsdamned broken shit.

moonshineshadow: Yeah virtual hug :D I also have a picture saved from before (see attachement) ;-)

I wish I had a big enough freezing compartment to do that with broth. When I'll move in one and a half year I will search so long for an apartment until I have one with a big enough kitchen :D

HypersomniacLive: Ah, you saved that, how sweet. Here's a better one. :-)

I don't have much space either, and no standalone freezer. I just make the best with the small one that comes atop my fridge. Sometimes I need to take a step or two back when opening the door. :-)
Nice, now the virtual hug even finished loading ;-)
Sounds like the freezing compartement of my fridge. And yes taking a step back is sometimes a good idea :D

Hello Endre,
How's Darklands going?
avatar
EndreWhiteMane: Here, here for metric.
Wish we'd have changed over when we said we were going to.
Except for carpentry I think in metric now, it's weird. :-)
That's unexpected.

I thought Americans kept stubbornly using imperial units as a matter of national pride. You know, a sort of middle finger to everyone else and an AMERICA, FUCK YEAH!

I suffer from the opposite I've actually become accustomed to inches and feet.

adaliabooks: That's really interesting.. being rubbish with languages I've always wondered what it's like to be properly bilingual.
That's why I hate the swiss.

Many are even trilingual.

Lucky bastards.

You know that there are four official languages in Switzerland? :P

I'm not that great with languages either. I nearly completely forgot my school french and my school english wasn't too good.
Nowadays i find really odd sometimes as my german syntax looks english and my english syntax sometimes german and i start thinking in english at times ;).

How many actually speak Romansh?

Before looking it up in wikipedia I didn't even know it existed.

EndreWhiteMane: Had to look up Citadel paints, expensive little critters. ;)

j0ekerr: This is the one I still have and used this afternoon.

I think it cost me somewhere around 20 bucks, a small fortune back then.
Wow, proper old school paints... I preferred the newer versions. Always fancied the 100 super set with like every colour in it...

Only very few people in small mountain villages. It is actually a dying language. But it is still funny that there are four official languages here :D

Could happen in Belgium too...

Okay, here's the thing. There are some Americans who resist the switch to metric for the reasons you just described.
Those people are fucking idiots. They embarrass Americans like myself who don't go in for the "America's always right in every way, no matter what, forever and ever" thing by our having to be associated with them under even the broadest possible terms.

I wouldn't know ;-)

I'm not bilingual in the true sense. The daughter of my sister will be, though. Or even quadrilingual:
My sister is German and lives in Denmark, with a Danish husband. They each talk to her in their respective languages, but the husband is of mixed origin too. His father is Danish, but his mother is from Morocco (Arabic) but has lived much of her life in France. And speaks no Danish at all. So when she comes to visit from Paris she'll talk French to the little girl, but when they all go visit the family in Morocco, it's Arabic.
My brother-in-law from this side speaks natively: Danish, French, Arabic. He's also very fluent in English and Russian (about the same level as me in English). And also Swedish (similar to Danish). Furthermore he speaks Mandarin on a basic level and iirc Spanish. And he's currently learning German and making good progress. Pretty awesome, no? I know I'm a little envious...

A little envious? I'm really envious. I speak only german (unfortunately no low german - which would be an additional language ^^) and english but i'll try to get my french knowledge back at some point :).
