toxicTom: Suppe ziehen lassen? Weil sie nach einem Tag noch besser schmeckt?
Ok, got you. In that case, I prepare the soup late in the evening to let it rest overnight.

But like Moon, no canned, no frozen soups. As for what broth to use - I usually make more when I have time to prepare it properly, and store a portion in the deep freeze using ice-cube trays. ;-)

Ok then, let's do this! :-D

ElTerprise: Good to know. Normally dict.cc is quite good when it comes to translations...(better than LEO imho)
Agreed, dict.cc is often more precise and offers more variations and (very important) phrases. LEO on the other hand has more fruitful community discussions on the usage of words, especially in specific fields.
I tend to use the online dictionaries mostly for "reverse lookup" - to check if the word I have in mind is indeed to correct one. But when it comes to areas like cooking, I feel like a pupil in the intermediate English course :-)

Although, and this is no joke, my vocabulary of ingredients, spices and herbs has remarkably improved since I play RPGs with crafting/cooking/alchemy like Oblivion, Skyrim or Witcher.

EndreWhiteMane: Had to look up Citadel paints, expensive little critters. ;)

Your a jrpg player, right?
Any thoughts on this:

I played a few JRPG back in the day, however back then, hardware limitations prevented the inclusion of a quest log. It was a time when every single byte, counted.

So yes, it's normal for there not to be a quest log, on the older or retro ones.

Also what Crow said. In Japan you were expected to play with a notepad and pencil.

Also, also they were all dragon quest or FF clones.

Yeah virtual hug :D I also have a picture saved from before (see attachement) ;-)

I wish I had a big enough freezing compartment to do that with broth. When I'll move in one and a half year I will search so long for an apartment until I have one with a big enough kitchen :D

And i'd like to add that dict.cc also offers idioms which i really like to use ;).
Interesting. So the RPGs are really educational after all :).

BTW: I always find it hilarious to talk/write/whatever with a fellow german or native german-speaker in english :).
All right, my Icewind party is loaded and ready to go, complete with a bard nicknamed Arrow Magnet who doesn't realize that his companions are just waiting for the right chance to use him as a human shield, and a cleric/mage named Shrieker who spends her time screaming endlessly and spitting at random passers-by, then shooting anyone who tries to confront her about it.

Feeling good about this run's chances of success...-laughing hard-

I like this entourage already :D

That's what we did when we prepared our own baby food. Unfortunately nowadays, the only time we have for real, extensive cooking is the weekends, and the only leftovers there are last until Tuesday at most.

GhostwriterDoF: Yes, it's the pre-cooked, laden with sodium type of "canned boxed" goods. Perhaps I should pour out the soup and chew on the boxes, (would be better than chewing on the furniture).

I totally agree with you on the fresh soup made from vegetable out of the garden, if possible, and your own harvested chickens or turkeys too. I was eating like that when I visited friends in Alaska awhile ago, got the fresh home made hearty soup as soon as I got off the plane.

At least the nose wipes were handy on hand! heh!

By the by, I get out of the cave fairly often, and at least once a month to go foraging for food (shopping for boxed soups :P). Plus I have a couple good friends that make sure to keep me busy. Yesterday we had to move some cars around, one of them was a nice early 1950s Volkswagen bug, (I took some pictures of it but haven't looked at them yet).

A few of my friends are into VW stuff. Here's a pic from one of our last trips to the desert, a tricked out Westfalia Van, with working kitchen, solar and propane powered wagon... plus you can plug your phone into it and play your music, I don't sleep in it though, it's for one of the guys and the dogs, we have another Airstream at that spot for the rest of the party. :D
Hahaha, cheers for the laughs. Funny you should say that about the pre-cooked soups - many years ago, I watched a documentary, and they were examining the ingredients listed on the bags of chips; they concluded that eating the bag would probably be more healthy. XD

Alaska must be quite the experience - watched quite a few documentaries, always strikes me as a world apart from the rest of the US.

Never been to any desert. What do you do when you camp in the desert?

Just start working somewhere, where everyone is talking English and you'll see after a few weeks you don't find it strange anymore :P

Is he black?

That'd be hillarious.

Tell the nice lady... Buggrit, millenium hand and shrimp!

CarrionCrow: Doing all right here. Need to get caffeinated but otherwise can't complain.
...
Other than that, I'll be continuing Grimrock as well as building an Icewind Dale party since I've talked about it enough recently that I want to run through it again.
Howdy Crow! :D

All this talk of Icewind Dale is making me want to reinstall it (and or IW2) and playthrough it again...

But not till I finish a playthrough of Wasteland 2.

In case anyone didn't notice, there is a new DLC addon content for Age of Wonders 3 that was released
here on GoG that is supposed to add quite a bit of new content... heh! As if we didn't have enough to keep us
occupied.

Yeah...I'm going to die a lot. Also, I already hate the bard on general principles, but I don't get XP for knifing him in the face myself. Had to make him human, otherwise it'd start feeling like a neverending hate crime.

That sounds awesome. ;-)

Thanks to you and J0ekerr for the answer. I LOVE playing it this way, it was just odd not to find a log/journal.
The others I've tried keep track of everytime I blow my nose, takes some of the fun out it. :-)

Tell me about it, all the conversation about it is the reason why I just made a new party while I have Pillars sitting on my desktop.
Still need to dig into Wasteland 1. As soon as I found out that 2's a direct sequel, I was a bit stuck by my own oddities regarding series clearing.
Icewind 2 will be good for the evil party run since I can have a Bane priest as my de facto leader. Always good when you can really feel that your characters are bad people. -laughs-

Noticed the AOW3 expansion, yet another series to do. By the time I clear the first 3 entries, the price for that expansion should be good so I can be a necromancer lord in between destroying gods, magic and men with the power of really big guns. ;)
