Question for you JRPG players;
Is it typical not to have a quest/conversation/notes log?
In playing Last Dream I have entire notebook page filled with info I've gotten from NPC's.
Quests, directions, numbers I'm sure will be significant later in the game, etc.
And that's just in part of the first town! :-)

Haha, cheers, but I think the most prudent reason to keep those hugs at bay is that you may catch something, and I'd hate to be the cause for you to suffer. :-)

Hmm. And just putting the pot with the soup somewhere cool, like, for a day? To let the aroma develop and let the spices' taste seep through all the "bigger" ingredients (not unlike the tea bag, now that I think about it)? That's what I was aiming at.

Of course it depends how much time you have, so yes if there is not much time I'll also use instant stock as basis :-)
But I never ever buy canned or frozen soups. I love making soups too much to do that, I always make them myself. But that is just me, if other people are fine with them that's also ok :-)

Actually I've heard it before in this context and would have understood it when I'd have read it. But I couldn't come up with it when I was looking for a word. And dict.cc let me down, too. They didn't offer "let rest" for "ziehen lassen" so I took the word that looked like what I was meaning, that was "steep".

Interestingly enough "let rest" would mean (literally) "ruhen lassen" in German, which can also mean a gastronomical term. It's most often used when roasted meat is taken off the heat (for some minutes) to let the juices spread inside the meat. According to dict.cc the translation back would be "to let stand".

Yes, it's the pre-cooked, laden with sodium type of "canned boxed" goods. Perhaps I should pour out the soup and chew on the boxes, (would be better than chewing on the furniture).

I totally agree with you on the fresh soup made from vegetable out of the garden, if possible, and your own harvested chickens or turkeys too. I was eating like that when I visited friends in Alaska awhile ago, got the fresh home made hearty soup as soon as I got off the plane.

At least the nose wipes were handy on hand! heh!

By the by, I get out of the cave fairly often, and at least once a month to go foraging for food (shopping for boxed soups :P). Plus I have a couple good friends that make sure to keep me busy. Yesterday we had to move some cars around, one of them was a nice early 1950s Volkswagen bug, (I took some pictures of it but haven't looked at them yet).

A few of my friends are into VW stuff. Here's a pic from one of our last trips to the desert, a tricked out Westfalia Van, with working kitchen, solar and propane powered wagon... plus you can plug your phone into it and play your music, I don't sleep in it though, it's for one of the guys and the dogs, we have another Airstream at that spot for the rest of the party. :D

Let rest, and to let stand would be the same here for cooking. The same terms apply to letting meat rest to re-absorb it juices. ;)

I can now say that citadel paints stay perfectly fine even after years left in a box.

It's been literally, years since I last picked up a paintbrush and it shows. On the other hand, while I have yet to master the art of the straight line I managed to paint it in such a way that I wouldn't feel utterly embarrased to show that miniature at an actual game.

Not quite. Hearts of Iron is a real-time grand strategy game :).
It only looks a bit like Risk...

Having an in-depth quest log/journal is far more a staple of western RPG's, not JRPG's.
The developers' commitment is showing through again.
