CarrionCrow: Good afternoon/evening, everyone.

Hopefully you're all doing well, or at least improving if you're not right now. =)

ElTerprise: Hello. I'm fine - but i had a boooring lecture today -.-

How are you doing?
Sounds like fun. When I had certain instructors and my insomnia was at its worst, the level of boredom they could induce knocked me right out. In the middle of their class. And I've been told I snore.
Figuring that worked as a greater indictment of their abilities than any insult I could ever hurl. -laughs-

l0rdtr3k: Boss' calling me EIT. BRB.
Do you play any board game?
Unfortunately not those big tabletops. Mostly Catan and a lot of Carcassonne recently. And i really want to play Dominion at some point.

moonshineshadow: Good day :-) *wave*
So if you don't like chicken soup (of course real chicken soup freshly cooked not the instant one), what is your comfort food when you are not feeling well?
avatar
HypersomniacLive: *waves back*

You know, I haven't really thought about it. My favourite soup is vegetable soup with veal, but if I have a stomach flu then I don't want to eat even that, so I guess it depends on why and how I'm not feeling well.
Yes of course, with a stomach flu eating is overrated ;-)
And I agree with you: soups need to me freshly made :D

Hmm... I would give you a *get well hug* but since you don't like hugs... and somehow *get well wave* sounds strange ;-)

Just saying that Dominion is also a very fun game, you should really play it :D

avatar
l0rdtr3k: *noms moon's ear* Hello again.
That sounds scary ;-)
*big hug* And in regards of the board game discussion, I never play these big ones you are talking about, while I like board games, I am not a fan of these big ones that go on for hours. I prefer ones that finish in an hour and then play a different one :D

HypersomniacLive: Soup must be made the moment it's needed with fresh ingredients.
In my experience many kinds of soup and stew are better steeped* for a few hours or even a day.

*Am I using this word correctly? My kitchen English is not very presentable...

That is true, but still made yourself with fresh ingredients right?

moonshineshadow: *welcome back wave* I am home so my situation improved :P
How are you doing?
Glad to hear it. Hopefully the simulation will start behaving properly. =)

Doing all right here. Need to get caffeinated but otherwise can't complain.

Thinking I'll be restarting my Pillars run in a bit. Would say the developers have already succeeded on one level, since the concept for one of their class subsets is interesting enough to make me want to restart, and the subset is paladin-related, typically one of the most annoying of all classes given their whining, whinging nonsense about how killing and stealing is wrong unless you're killing and stealing from what they deem are "evil" creatures.

As such, the developers building a type that I actually want to play is an achievement on their part.

Other than that, I'll be continuing Grimrock as well as building an Icewind Dale party since I've talked about it enough recently that I want to run through it again.

We say 'simmered' over low heat, no boiling.
'Steeping' is what a teabag is doing when placed in hot water.

toxicTom: I wouldn't count Warhammer, 40k and the likes as "board games", rather "table top", although the borders are certainly not very clear cut (think of the old HeroQuest or Castle Ravenloft).

Myself I'm an avid role player (pen and paper) and nothings beats this mix of imagination, story-telling, resource management and tactics. Fortunately my wife also loves it and we've even managed to infect my older daughter - we played with her (special tailored adventures on the last two New Year's Eves and she went on to talk about it for the whole of last year. We're going to make it a tradition, but also want to include her more often.
I always have problems differentiating those two types (Humble bundle as well as it seems) but i would also tend to call them Tabletop rather than boardgame.
Pen and Paper always sounds like real fun but i think i know the wrong people for something like that ;).

Sounds like a nice plan :D
I am still thinking about the Icewind Dale game. But I also realised that I got Neverwinter Nights with the Witcher 3 preorder for my mum so perhaps I should try that one since I already own it. Any opinions?

Something new learned. I knew simmered (came up in my books often enough), but steeping is new :D

NWN 1 is pretty bland compared to the others. It doesn't have the isometric view, if I'm remembering correctly, and you only have two people at most to manage, but I think its primary allure is the multiplayer modules that people have made for it.
In most cases I'd say to try the others, but if it does away with things you don't like, it could be a good starting point.

(Apologies if my info's wrong on that, it's been years since I played it.)

Sounds good to me. Since the large party management and the isometric view are the things I did not like :D
So perhaps I'll really give it a try since I already have it.

moonshineshadow: That is true, but still made yourself with fresh ingredients right?
Yes, of course. Although the question is - how far do you want to go? Make your own stock from vegetables or beef or chicken or just use ready-made or instant stock? I can say that I prefer to make the base stock myself - but if I don't have the time I'll rely on the convenience variant.

Also, some of the canned or (especially) frozen soups are not that bad. If you can't cook for... well, reasons... it's better than living on bread and butter and stuff all the time. I look on the list of ingredients can be enlightening, but careful, even the non-artificial stuff can be of the bad appetizing or "flavour improving" variety (like the infamous yeast extract, that is in many products "without artificial stuff").
