*comforting hugs* I know the feeling. We just can't post there anymore.

Better too early than too late?

Good midweek to everyone! <ruffles everyone's hair and feathers playfully>

Reading through the posts, it seems most everyone is doing well, and even a little better than expected, which is good to hear. Hope you are all having a good day, and the week is turning in your favor. (I brought an extra box of nose wipes and a couple boxes of chicken soup for Hyper, just in case).

I had to run around doing errands with a friend unexpectedly for most of the afternoon yesterday, but it was good to get out of the cave. All is well here, and I’m feeling good, might make some pancakes and spam for brunch.

and.. Bundles! I had to get the new releases of the MoW games, which I already had all but Faces and Vietnam. :)

Hi Ghost. Do you like board games?
wow! I am mindblown again. Thanks for gog.com, bought the We Cause Scenes documentary. Have discovered Improv Everywhere and maybe some more faith in Humanity ;)
This is what I'd like to see around everywhere: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjyAMRKTUps

Yes, though I haven't played any board games in ages, I used to play a game called Feudal quite a bit,
and also used to play a card came called Uno a lot, where we had elimination championships too. :)

When I say that I like board games, people tend to look at me funny. Never had much luck encountering board game enthusiasts.
And I hate when people look at me funny because of what I like.

Yeah, I'm not great at playing these games either, especially that one Train Station mission,
in the first Men of War game, at the beginning of the Russian campaign.
Took me quite a few tries to get past it, until I figured out that I needed to
lay mines (found in the crates) to stop the tank onslaught... heh!

Red Tide was really well designed, glad it made it here too. Although I already have Assault Squad GotY,
I haven't been able to play it that much (backlogged but still installed). The Vietnam one is going to be a
pain, but I'm glad to finally get that one and Faces of War here too. :D

I'm sure there are at the least some Chess players somewhere near you.
Perhaps you could do a search on the internet and find a local group of
board game enthusiast near you...

People look at me funny all the time, and I don't have to say anything or do anything
out of the ordinary, I don't mind it at all. :D

Sometimes I go to Roll20 and watch and play there and my comics shop also has people that play D&D. And I also suck at Chess -_-

LOL at the bit about the nose wipes and such ;)

Talk to me about those MoW games. I'm usually NOT an RTS type person but these look a bit more on the squad based scale and require more than just grouping and spamming 10,000 tanks.

I also recently played a game called "Soldiers: Heroes of WWII" and LOVED it. It was (technically I guess) an "RTS" but it had great action bits where I could actually control and shoot with a unit (like an action game). Also, it played out more like a real time RPG where each engagement was like an encounter - figure out how to hit this tank from a better angle, use cover and advance in a tactical manner, keep a good inventory of armor piercing rounds on your tank, and its anti infantry weapon fully loaded, "loot" destroyed vehicles for gas to keep your own armor going. Are the MoW games like that? Particularly, do they include an action component? The gamer cards seems to imply they do.

Finally - are they fair? I don't like overly difficult games, particularly in this genre. Rewarding is okay but punishing not so much (I'll leave that for Crow ;) ).

Thanks for any tidbits!

Yes, the MoW games are just like that. In fact, I used to think Heroes of WWII was the first MoW under a different name, not a separate game! heh! (I also have it here on GoG).

Yes they are fair, but realistic, so you can't rush a tank like in Company of Heroes (which is a good game too).

I expect that the Vietnam one will be fairly brutal and even more unforgiving of mistakes, but just as much fun. :D

Uno is a great game :D I am still playing that sometimes with my family.

Thanks much! Seeing your glowing praise and insta(re)buys of them and the fact that they're like another game I had a blast with means I might have some thinking to do LOL. They're quite beautiful too.

I almost grabbed the first one on a whim last week when it showed up - I actually meant to ask some of the questions then thatI just asked you now. I'm actually glad I held off now to be honest because it looks like this bundle might be pretty tempting.

I know I have a deck around here somewhere... I'll have to add that to my camping backpack
to take with me as one of the essentials. :)

Do you also play Yahtzee? You can create and print up your own sheets if you run out official ones,
and then all you need is the dice.

What about Scrabble? I imagine it comes in different languages, but there are some languages that it
might not translate well as a game, like traditional Chinese.
