CarrionCrow: I'd say go for it if it's reasonable. Only thing more annoying than having to spend heavily on a console is having bought it and having nothing to play on it. Seems like it'd be a much more cost-effective choice.
This is what's bothering me at the moment, both the Wii U and my 3DS sit unused most of the time because I can't afford games for them. £4 a months seems small price to get some use out of them.

That's a definite concern. I'd say go for it, so long as there isn't any fine print that locks you into a higher price at some point.

Thinking about it, it's too much of an investment to get into right now, heat or not.
Still need to get my GOG stuff properly backed up, that's going to take some coin to do but it's crucial since my GOG folder has now devoured over half my hard drive.

CarrionCrow: That's why I'm not getting a PS 3. Too much cost, short and long term. Not really wanting to start over building a huge collection from scratch again.
Yeah. Probably a good decision. My PS3 which i got for the exclusives (Uncharted etc.) is mostly collecting dust at the moment. (apart from occasional usage as a blu ray player)....

And to me, there isn't enough of a quality leap to start repurchasing DVD's in that format.

Looks like I've figured out what to do - continuing the semi-insanity of completing a list of items I have no need of, in the name of obtaining games I'll need 5 years to complete.

Screw it, I've done crazier things. -laughs-

Yeah, that's on the list too. Still got a 100GB of free space, but it's slowly decreasing all the time.. there's a 1TB external hard drive in the super market for £50 that would take a lot of the strain off by putting a lot of the mostly useless shit I've downloaded over the years and just don't want to delete off the computer. And backing up all my GoG installers (and various other files) would be a bonus too :)

AFAIK i never repurchased stuff as Blu-ray, i only get my new stuff (sometimes) rather on blu-ray than dvd. But recently i haven't bought much as i started using Netflix...which slowly (but steady) is expanding its catalogue in germany...

On the contrary i do repurchase games on gog which i already rented on that other platform (in some cases) ^^

Have my eye on a 4 TB drive and the audiobook lover relative is willing to go half-in with me since I'm essentially their archivist, keeping all their stuff on my computer.
I could put all 840 gigs of GOG stuff on it and still have plenty of room to spare.

Yes, it is. But 1,000's much nicer. ;)

I've done the repurchasing rentals thing more than once. At this point, I stick with GOG for 99.99 percent of all purchases, so that problem's been eliminated.
Only thing that stands out as a solid rental will be Sword Coast Legends when it's available. Figuring it won't come to GOG any time soon given how much they're hyping up the online DM mode, and no one knows when Galaxy will be up and running.

Well i barely use that other platform recently and i intend to get most games i want from GOG after years i stayed on steam (no need to capitalize that :P)...
The problem with this new Humble is that it uses Origin and let's just say I really don't like using Origin. It's DRM is worse than Steam's.

I had a few games wishlisted there, but took them all off. Now it's focusing on GOG. I'll wipe out my list, take a long hard look at whatever's left, put together one more list, wipe those out, then I'll be up to date and pick off new releases if they're of interest. Sales won't be of interest after that since I'll have everything I want.

Yeah, it's shit.
Along with that massive hurdle, there are annoying things to that bundle, like getting Dragon Age 1, but not the expansions, Dragon Age 2 but not its expansion, Mass Effect 2, but no expansions to that and no Mass Effect 1 or its expansions, Dead Space 2 but not Dead Space 1, the Plants versus Zombies garbage they put out rather than the first one, and of course them sitting on the Command and Conquer franchise, which would be an instant purchase from start to finish if it wasn't EA forcing people to use Origin to get it.
Ultimately, their "charity" looks like multiple fish hooks designed to get people to head to Origin and end up paying extra to get full versions of anything they might like.

But who knows...maybe I'm being too hard on them. It's not like EA gives zero shits about its audience, instead going down the path of nickel and diming their customer base to death...right?

But wiping out that list will definitely take some time ^^.

Yeah compared to the first Origin Bundle that one's worse especially due to the barebones verisions of the games (well Sims 3 was alos only a starter version with two addons in the first bundle)
I don't even have an Origin account, not getting one either. I already use GOG, Steam, Humble, Desura....don't know how many more. (Luckily I don't use GamersGate either.)

I've run the numbers. After cutting my list in half, the projection is three months paying retail to clear it all.
Hoping that Summer cuts the cost down substantially.

Just looked at the first Origin bundle, and nothing stood out as anything of interest aside from Mirror's Edge.
Still wouldn't sign up to Origin for it, though.

At least Mirror's Edge is pretty awesome if short, only got the first one for BF3(which is pretty shitty) and Sims 3(which doesn't hold a candle to the second one)
