CarrionCrow: Same here. Tend to do that on general principle, so it can be tricky to find posts that haven't been.

Yes it would. Asylum and City are both very good games. Haven't heard much of anything good about Origins, though. That's the one I haven't played yet, too many comments about gamebreaker bugs.
Let's put it this way. Origins can be summed up like this.

To the point Rocksteady doesn't admit to its existence, since they keep talking about the: Arkham trilogy.

moonshineshadow: Great author. Would you be more interested in a single book or would a trilogy be fine?
avatar
ElTerprise: As i mostly read when i'm in the public transport i don't mind a trilogy.
For trilogy I would recommand Die Nebelgeborenen. The first three belong together, the fourth one is the start of a new trilogy.

For a single book I would recommand Sturmklänge.

But I can not garanty for the German translations, I read them in English :D

Yep :D So what did you get?

FearfulSymmetry: Forgive me if I'm recommending things you've already read, I've no clue what you got covered. :) Wool by Hugh Howey is pretty good, if you haven't read that one yet. Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams is hilarious and one of my all-time favourites. I also read The Martian by Andy Weir recently, which is also light-hearted and funny. Gravity by Tess Gerritsen is also a great and thrilling book, if you don't mind the occasional gory scene. The science in that book is really good.
Sorry should have given some input of what i've read before. I actually read *all* Hitchhiker books - even that one from Eoin Colfer - but i haven't read the other books you mentioned yet.

Other stuff I've already read is the first Dune trilogy, The Star Diaries, The Foundation Trilogy, The inhabited Island/Prisoner of Power and some other rather trashy stuff, not to mention some Star trek novels....

Yeah it wasn't up to par with City and Asylum but i had fun with it.

Thanks. I think i have to take notes now :D. Hmm...the public library has at least the first one as an ebook....off to Thalia i guess :).

I wouldn't have a problem with reading them in english. I read most books in german but some also in english (ASoIaF for example - although i have only finished the first one yet)

No problem, I've pretty much run out of recommendations for mainstream scifi anyhow. :P The three I mentioned are good books, though.

Wool is the first book of a trilogy, and it's more serious scifi about a group of people living in a silo after the world has become uninhabitable, only they've been there for so long that they hardly have any notion of what the outside is like anymore, and of course there's a bigger conspiracy as well. :P

The Martian is about a guy who gets stuck on Mars due to an unfortunate accident and has to survive there until he can be rescued. This is a light-hearted book, and it's mostly just rather funny.

Gravity is about an unknown disease that breaks out on the ISS, infecting the astronauts onboard and trapping them in space far away from any real medical care/professional help. It's really a page-turner, I finished it in an afternoon because I kept wanting to know what was going to happen next.

I was just saying so that you know. Perhaps the German translation is good, I have no idea ;-)

Haha, notes are good! :P I sometimes spend more time deciding which books I should read and searching for information about them than I do reading them.
