moonshineshadow: What I disliked? The isometric view, no way to zoom, the huge party and needing to manage it. It just felt like a drag.

But I always hear so much good things about them and perhaps I would like them now after such a long time.

CarrionCrow: Well, the view and inability to zoom are still there, unless there are mods to change those things.
No clue on that, I always play the series vanilla.
The party management is also the same, unless you build a party with less characters, which spikes the difficulty.

Given your issues with those things, I'd definitely try the original before spending more money on a game that'll still have things you disliked before.
Ok thanks. So if I decide to try such a game again I'll get the classic version :-)

Ha! Someone with a clue! I have the vanilla version (from GOG) and what really put me off when I tried it was the botched pathfinding (almost made me quit BG1, too). Is there a way to bring at least this to BG2 level? Any other age issue with the game I can cope with, but seeing my party members running around like beheaded chicken in every area that has a some tight spot really made me leave bite marks on my desk.

Well I am going to call it a night. After the day I have had I am feeling exhausted. A nice early night should do me the world of good.

If I'm remembering correctly, there's an option to increase the pathfinding nodes. I always turn that up and it seems to help with the problem.
Maybe I'm just used to it, since I micromanage everything, leave party AI off, run all characters myself at every point.

We got Eeyore into the trailer at the expense of most of the skin on my right hand. :P

He has his "procedure" tomorrow. Lets all have a moment of silence for his nuts.
