Prince of Persia games are quite fun, haven't played the newest yet, but the others were nice :-)

I played them on console, and it was a while ago but...

I HATE Warrior Within. Terrible frustrating combat, an overly difficult TUTORIAL boss and just this overhyped, oversexualized "cash in edgy" vibe.

BUT...

The first (well, first console LOL) Prince of Persia game is amazing. Beautiful, lovely world. The game is like playing a fairy tale. The combat is simple, fluid fun and gorgeous. The platform / puzzling is great (I'm not sure how it would play without a stick). I know some people don't like the fact that "you can't die" (you can) but I really enjoyed the "rewind" feature and thought it was an interesting, unique gameplay feature that really fit.

Whatever you get, I'd toss PoP in there. I'm talking about the "first" rerealease - from 2003 or so? Not the cell shaded one of the same name. That might be a good game as well, I just didn't play it.

I've played through the original Assassins Creed a few times.

I liked the setting of the place and time, and the storyline was good, the premise of
actual living memories stored in our genetic code, (which is realistic probability).

There is a bit of repetitiveness in the gameplay, but not overly. There are three main cities
to travel to, and each has three areas to explore. Each city starts with the lower level open and
the other two "memory locked", until you advance through the story. You also get to choose
which city to travel to.

Out of all the games, I like the first one best, since it had the feel of being an assassin, with some
hectic running away for your life at times. The other games in the series add more to the gameplay,
and the assassin part gets lost in that, plus the story gets more complicated and convoluted.

I would add that in the first PoP the combat can be frustrating if you don't know that you should
take out some of the tougher bad guys first, as they tend to respawn a few as you kill enemies off,
and if you take out all the weaker enemy, they might respawn as tougher ones.
So kill off the toughest ones first. You can die in this game though, if you are not careful.

The newest PoP looks really good, I have it, just haven't played through more than the first few levels.
In this game you really can't die, as your companion will save you.

Yes, I played it, and enjoyed it much :) The storyline is great (very rich and accurate), and the characters and graphics are awesome...

LOL it's funny to see the "different strokes for different folks" in action! I liked the later games (2 and Brotherhood being favorites, with 3 in there as well) for the exact reasons bolded.

I always wanted to build up to well planned kills of my target in the first game, gathering bits of info and surveying before dropping in for "the perfect kill" - I don't know if the guards were overly aware or I just wasn't very good, but it would always devolve into me running up and stabbing the guy, then running like hell after 15 failed attempts to sneak in.

The world was stunning though, and the atmosphere of existing in a real city was spot on. I keep my copy to this day because of that. At the time, it felt to me like a true leap forward in the power of the (then LOL) new consoles - maybe not quite in gameplay (yet) but in potential.

I think it's just a pat on the shoulder... :-|
I didn't notice it was a Mormon hug. Poor Mormon guy... he must have been quite freaked out to be crushingly hugged back by a random stranger... :-\

I know, I liked the other games too, but for different reasons, although I’ve only played through the first hour or so of Black Flag, and it is a massive world to explore with lots to do. One day I’ll get to it (at least it can be played offline!)

But the first game is still my favorite, as the combat seems to be the most challenging in this game, especially early in the game when you have to be really careful of those Templar Knights, and traveling between the cities in the countryside area was hectic too with all those soldiers moving around and camped. :)
