moonshineshadow: Interesting. So formal balls mean that the colour should be black and for morei nformal ones there can be different colours? I had no idea that there are "rules" about something like that.

I am sure my partner understands it all better than I do, but to me it's all kind of new. I have been to a few balls with my partner, but I do not know too much about the etiquette of it all. I think they are going for a formal black tie kind of thing and they wanted the women to compliment the men in their suits, but I don't know much more than that. I don't mind, I like the black dress and a black dress can be worn again in a number of occasions, unless a red dress.
