ZenWan: Fortunately the simple local Portuguese food is always good - grilled fish or chicken with fries and salad and great bread, not to mention great wine. And my favourite is chicken piri-piri, chicken with hot sauce - if they know you, they'll make the sauce extra hot - yum!
Hmmmm I'm getting hungry!
avatar
moonshineshadow: That sounds really tasty! Do you have a recipe for the chicken piri-piri that you can recommend? If not I'll just go searching on the internet, since it sounds great.
Hi Moon, hope your weather has improved. Perhaps you can try this chicken over Easter, when you visit your family. It's really good.
The chickens are always small ones, and barbecued over an open fire - a long distance from the heat, so they cook long and slow. You can do that at home (using either chicken pieces or halved chickens) under an overhead grill, if you keep the chicken some distance from the grill and keep basting it with sauce. As for the sauce, there are thousands of recipes - I always keep a bottle of whiskey filled with dried chiles that I either grow or buy here. I add a few lemon and bay leaves to that, and then when I come to do the chicken, I use that as a base, with some olive oil lots of crushed garlic because I love garlic, and extra lemon juice. I salt the chicken, then marinate it in that sauce for at least a few hours, and then grill for a few hours more, until the chicken is very tender. Turn it from time to time and keep basting.

How hot you make the chicken depends, of course, on how many chiles you put in the sauce, and what type they are. Here it is easy to buy the tiny African ones, dried, that are really hot, but you can add any type you like, and you don't have to prepare that whiskey mix in advance, of course. Just add a few chiles to your sauce before you marinate the chicken.

I did a quick search, and this looked like a good site

Congrats, my best for the future. What are you going to master?
Moin. Still the same as my bachelor's: Geography :).

CarrionCrow: Stuff coming to mind right off the bat -

Freedom Planet - 16-bit graphics, kinda cutesy since it looks like a big homage to Sonic games, but from what I heard from another thread person, the difficulty does increase so it's not a dull cakewalk.

Escape Goat 1 and 2 - Puzzle-platformers, gradual difficulty increases, minimal graphics on 1, upgraded graphics that look like they could be from a shinier Super Nintendo game for 2, and if she likes it, there's an extra difficulty level on 1 that's 36 levels of torture.
Also, you're playing a jumping goat who's friends with a mouse and uses it to solve puzzles. That might be cute to some people.

Can't think of any GOG games with penguins in them, though.

superstande: Thanks a bunch! Escape Goat! Those went under my radar. We'll see what happens :)
Crow knows all the games here far better than I do - but just a thought - there's a cute little game called Mousecraft that perhaps she might like?

It's fun to play, although no penguins, but it does have mice - and cats. ;-)

Very kind of you to choose something for your wife, I'm sure whatever you find will make her happy. :-)

Awesome. Thanks :-)
I'll sure try it out soon! (not during Eastern since my mum already planned the menu and I can't mess that up) :D
As for chiles I can here buy fresh red ones, and I often dry some of them for later use. They should work well for this :-)

HypersomniacLive: Happy Hump Day, peeps, hope the day's treating everyone well.

I see a couple are still not well, so here's something to motivate them to rectify the situation a.s.a.p.
Hi to you, glad to hear how happy you're sounding. Crow has certainly made a lot of people happy since yesterday!

Hope you have a great day.

@Crow
You rock, cheers for making our fellow GOGgers happy. :-)
Good evening. =)

Nah, I'm just a person who gets to hang out with a lot of good people.

Hopefully things are decent on your end at the very least today, with less grief and garbage.

He certainly has, he's a great guy.
And as for you I've been +'ing all of your posts, as I'm sure many have, for being so helpful to people.
You've been a great addition to our little (!) forum as have many of the other newcomers.
Crow started a good thing here! :-)

Oops! I thought he was asleep. :-)

I'm definitely not an expert on the GOG catalog. If anything, I'm finding that the more games I have, the more some of them fall through the cracks.
I own Mousecraft, but I didn't even think of it as a possibility.

-laughs- Had to go into town and pay some bills, just got back. Now I'm nursing a diet soda and a bag of wild berry Skittles.

Would definitely agree with you. More people are here, and they're good people as well. =)

Didn't mean to embarrass you, but this thread has been great.

I'm downloading OS as we speak, told the landlady I'd pay if there was a penalty charge.
Should be fine if I declare a 30 day moratorium on downloads. ;)
Guess I could have done it at work but that's kind of a no-no. I just want to play the game NOW! :-)

Edit: BTW, have you posted your top 5 yet? If so I missed it, would you kindly do it again? ;)

I don't think he did. Or I have also missed it :D

Of course, any chiles would do, fresh or dried, I like it very hot but that's just a matter of choice. It's good no matter how hot or mild it is.

I'm sure your mum's Easter food will be delicious - hope you have a wonderful time with the family. :-)

Been trying to post this for ages, I'm so bad at editing.

Couldn't agree more about Crow, he's been so helpful and kind - and thank you for your kind words to me, I'm very grateful, and, of course for the +'s. :-)

This is really a happy little forum, thanks to all the great people who post here. And now you've gone and woken Crow up and we can't talk about him any more. ;-)

I also like very spicy food. Another reasons why it is good if I make it for myself. Then I can make the sauce really hot and don't need to consider the tastes of my family :D

Hopefully that penalty can be avoided. Not sure how much it'd be, but penalties in general are bad.

-laughs- Sounds like a good plan. Pick and choose, prioritize what you want most right now. =)

Probably better that you didn't try it at work. If the info on GOG's right, that's a pretty big game size-wise.

The size would be OK, it's a commercial account.
However, the SysAdmin set a 'no personal files' rule.
And guess who that is? :-)

Now: About your top 5?
