You know how scurvy is a result of a lack of Vitamin C? A lot of illnesses can perpetuate due to a lack of Zinc. It is one of the building blocks for our immune system. Green leafy veggies, like broccoli, spinach, green peas, tomatoes*, lemon grass and shitake mushrooms, or fruits like apricots and peaches, prunes (dried plums) avocado and bananas all have zinc. It might not make them get better any quicker, but it doesn't hurt.

That anti-flu stuff they have at the market, thera-flu, or airborne, its basically a bunch of Vitamin C (because everyone thinks Vitamin C has something to do with colds and flu, nope) zinc and iron, and a few other things mixed in. Basically, what most people lack in their diets from eating all over processed, sodium packed, high fructose corn syrup filled sodas, and vending machine junk food.

However, too much zinc can destroy the bodies levels of Vitamin A, which can lead to blindness and heart failure. But you'd basically have to eat like nothing but zinc laden veggies for like, a week or something. Or take too many multivitamin tablets.

Glad you are fine... and that the owlet is relatively fine... I hope all goes well for you both, and she gets better quickly.
