moonshineshadow: No drinking at all and no I will not start with it ;-)

It is all your fault, you have a bad influence in regards of playing bad games :P

-laughs- If only it was that simple.

The really bad part is when you have to sit there and go, "Wow. I chose to waste my time on that. That's time I'm not ever getting back, and I spent it on that..."

FearfulSymmetry: I have a professor who will pick up your phone if it rings in his class. He ended a relationship once by doing that, but as it turned out, the girl was grateful the professor had broken it up. :P
Hahaha! That is a good way to do it... And how lucky for that girl :-P

I had a teacher that simply used a hammer. He only had to do it once, and nobody's phone rang again all semester :-)

Yeah, I imagine no one would risk it after that. An effective approach. :P

CarrionCrow: Sounds good to me. Sad thing is, I bet he ended up with a full wall's worth of phones before people finally got the hint.

Good afternoon. =)

Sounds like she lucked out in that case. The professor's approach doesn't surprise me, figuring it'd get extremely frustrating in a hurry to attempt teaching while phones go off continuously.

Hello to you too. :)

Yep. It doesn't happen that often, but when it does, it's really annoying, and we have small classes, so it's very noticeable. This professor has a weird streak of humor, though, so I tend to be careful in his classes anyway, because you never know what's going to happen. He's got this feud going on with my study advisor, in which they'll try to ridicule each other in front of students by photoshopping each other's faces onto statues and that sort of thing.

CarrionCrow: I'm being reminded that I might liveblog my final run of Fahrenheit.
I want to tear that game to pieces point by point by point, from one end to the other, and I don't want to forget anything.
o__o you have a blog ?
avatar
moonshineshadow: I think I really need to play that game soon. Because everyone seems to dislike it and the reason I have is because a friend was always telling me play it because it was so good (and he really meant that).
Are you sure it was a "friend" ? :-D

No, I don't. Figured I'd turn a post or thread into an impromptu one, assuming I haven't gone the drunkenness route and can actually still type to do so. -laughs-

(Hello Fearful !! :) **Good afternoon Hug** )
Here in France, you would have so many parents complaining and threatening, and you'd probably end up in a trial for doing that... Teachers have lost every kind of trust and support from families :-( ...)

Hi. Actually that sounds funny - but indeed a bit weird :).

IIRC the confiscation of phones only happened in school not university.

I would hardly be surprised if it would be the same in germany...

Hey Owl! *super awesome hug* And yes, parents can be very overreacting. This week in the Netherlands, two primary school teachers were attacked by parents for super silly reasons.

Yeah, we're completely messed up in the English department. Half of the teaching staff moonlights as stand up comedians.

Now i'm envious to some degree as i only have professors without much humour....
I once had the headmistress of our school chase me down the street after school to confiscate my coat, because it wasn't the official school uniform coat...
Admittedly she was a complete bitch.

I love my smart phone for all it's other features, but dislike actual phone calls; I don't think man kind has ever invented a more awkward form of communication.

Same in the US... Teachers started getting in trouble for confiscating toys, phones, distractions, etc. ... But that behaviour can't go on, so confiscation became part of the agreement you (or your parents) must sign before taking classes.
