ElTerprise: Nah. i don't think so. I was hit on the tailbone after a tackling and got a volleyball in the face. Notthing serious.

As soon as i can say something about the game, i'll tell you all.
I am glad it is nothing serious.

And thank you in advance for sharing your opinion of the game. The game is not really one that I have looked into much, but as I said, several on here are interested in the game, and I know they would appreciate your opinions on the game.

moonshineshadow: I am not sure if enjoying is the right word ;-)
And I had a look how many maps the game has. I have only completed one third of the game. Getting a bit frustrated here, perhaps I should play something else for a while. The question is which game :D
I am not sure if I asked this before, but does the game use DosBox or ScummVM? Because if they do you could always switch to windows mode while waiting and then play another game while Anvil of Dawn is regenerating your health. I am not too sure how good it would work, but it might be an option, that way you can play another game while Anvil of Dawn is doing it's thing.

l0rdtr3k: Arcanum?
Nope. I can't stand turn-based, isometric games with large parties. I never liked such games, therefore I'll not tell you which so called classics I started, played for an hour and then never bothered with again :P

It uses DosBox. That is why I am usually going to the forum here during the breaks. And it was ok before, but now with these new monsters it has become really annoying and too often :-(

That's a shame. It would be interesting to meet the developers and ask them why they thought this would be a good design choice. Then we could make them go back and fix it so you can have more fun with the game. :-)

Good luck with that. According to Wikipedia the developer went out of business in 2000.

I know, I was only joking. But it would have been interesting to hear why they thought that making players wait so long was a good idea from a game play perspective.

That's true. Maybe a lesson in patience? It just don't make any sense that they have implemented this...

I just read a few reviews on Anvil of Dawn and this one is hilarious:

Throughout the game you cannot rest and therefore must rely on your wits and skills and the items that you find along the way. Some people actually rated this game pretty harshly on GOG because of the fact you can't rest, but it seems that some people have forgotten with modern RPGs and gaming that the old back step when you foe attacks is a pretty good way to dodge an incoming blow from an enemy.
the simple amount of lore that you learn and experience throughout the storyline is something fantasic
o.o
Seems like that guy is playing another version than me. I have now played a third of the game and there is almost no lore or story or npcs who tell you something about the world.

Would be interesting to know what this reviewer defines as lore.

Have you found a replacement game?

I guess you just didn't get the pre-ordered Royal Edition. That edition came with lots of pre-order exclusive extras such as instant healing and lots of lore. :-)

Seems like it :D

It is really funny how opinions about games can differ. Seems like I am just not masochistic and patient enough for this game. Since of course you can back-step all the time. Dragging out the fights so long that it takes the same amount of time as just hacking the enemies down and waiting for regeneration :D

ElTerprise: *crosses fingers*. What new GPU do you get?
No new CPU. It's an AMD Athlon(tm) X2 Dual Core, Win 7 32-bit... and I understand some of that, but not all! :p

I was talking about the graphics card - a gpu not a cpu ;).

*laughs* See how much I know? haha I have no idea, I'll check it when I get home (assuming that my monitor works.) :)

No problem. I'm not an expert either.

Opinions do differ quite a bit when it comes to games. I sometimes read review for GOG games that I know to be horrible but I find high scoring reviews praising the game. It's the same with books and movies.

I hope the rest of the game is enjoyable? If not then I am worried you might indeed have Crow's disease. :-)

---

I had better call it a night and try to get some sleep. My mum is having her operation tomorrow and I am quite worried about it, as she is still not really well enough to go under and be operated on. But they need to do it to fix some broken bones and prevent any further damage. So hopefully everything will be fine. I probably won't be on much tomorrow, but hopefully I will be able to pop in during the day now and then.

Take care everyone and have a good night!

*goodnight hugs and silly waves*
