ElTerprise: Would Legends of Grimroc be a good start for someone without great experience in Dungeon Crawlers?
avatar
moonshineshadow: Hmmm... hard to say, depends on what is important to you.
Legend of Grimrock is a great game, but some people complain that the puzzles are too hard or that sometimes puzzles rely on speed. But since it is a newer game the graphics are quite nice. I never had these problems, just mentioning them, since I read these complains.

If you are not bothered by older graphis you could play the first Lands of Lore. Awesome game in my opinion! (Warning: I may be biased by nostalgics :D)
Graphics are not that important for me (playing a lot of Paradox Grandstrategy games ^^). Lands of Lore is a Westwood Game right? I like Westwood Games. But...*looks in library* i don't have it yet. I'll keep that in mind. Thank you!

CarrionCrow: I can see the desire to explore everything, but doesn't anyone in these games think of bringing a rope?
I can't help but see the image of my characters all holding hands like lunatics with a suicide pact all screaming WHEEEE!, then jumping headfirst into every dark space they can find.
avatar
moonshineshadow: I'll tell you something. Legend of Grimrock 2 has a map where you find a rope to climb up and down ;-)

But I still love the jumping in holes. WHEEEE!
I was actually thinking of starting 2 and playing it alongside 1, since the plots don't seem to be connected.
Decided to wait, though. Any time I do that, the improvements of the second always make completing the 1 a bit more of a slog.

The nice thing about the second 2 were the outside areas. Strange thing is that while I enjoyed them I missed the look of the dungeons in the first one :P
Good evening, everyone!

How are you all tonight?

*big hugs and silly waves*

I heard that Lands of Lore 3 pretty much ruined the franchise.
Speaking of Westwood, where the hell is Command and Conquer? I thought GOG would have an easy time getting them here.

Command & Conquer, Red Alert and Tiberian Sun are Freeware. Red Alert 2 would be nice though (although that game messed up the single universe continuity).

@Moonshineshadow: already downloading the game

Let's say it wasn't that bad, that I remember it as a really bad game. But I also do not really remember it at all, so it was also not a good game worth remembering it ;-)
