l0rdtr3k: As much as I like Borderlands 1,I can't help but find it somewhat boring.
Yeah i had a similar experience with Borderlands. Especially when you only play singleplayer. But from what i've heard the second one is better which i still have to try out.

CarrionCrow: Playing Meat Boy.
How's that going? Anywhere close to the end, Mr. OCD? Speaking of which, did you ever finish that other game you were obsessively trying to finish? What was it... An MMO or was it just an RPG? (My memory... lol~ I'm really tired, and that doesn't help~!) :D

Stilton: Hello good gamers ;-)

Is everyone well?

Congratulations, ElTerprise!! We knew you'd do it ;-)

CarrionCrow: Good evening. =)

Playing Meat Boy. Aside from that, I can't complain too much. -laughs-

How's your evening going?
I've been 'playing with myself.'

By which I mean I've been exploring the ins and outs of Linux, and its been a lot of fun. I've installed Tales of Maj'Eyal (as easy as picking my nose) and looking around for other Linux games (aside from GOG's). Battle for Wesnoth seems to be a standout, so that's been installed, and there's also The Ur-Quan Masters, formerly Star Control, which I might dip into. So, overall, its been a good day. How's that little meat boy pain in the backside going?
avatar
Stilton: So what's next, and when?
avatar
ElTerprise: Some administrative matters to clear up and then i'm about to continue into the master's programme.
Deeper and deeper... Seems a bit like The Twilight Zone ;-)

I was thinking of setting up a dualboot system at some point. Which Linux distribution do you use?

It's my intent to get away from University after Master's degree....hopefully ^^

gunsynd: Go back and play it,losing no characters....
Hell no! I'd considered possibly doing another run when I started, but having looked at the other classes that I didn't use I can't really see it being much different so I don't think that will be happening any time soon.

CarrionCrow: I'm sure it'll be fine. Given how much it annoys the shit out of me, I'm definitely interested in seeing other people's impressions.
How many hours did you end up putting into it, you think?
I really enjoyed it to start with.. but by the end it was just a bit samey and I was playing it just to finish, without really enjoying it.

I think it was about 60 hours in the end, forgot to check the exact count.

6 levels left. Thought the game was bugging out at one point, looked online, ended up getting one of the levels spoiled, so for me 100 percent completion isn't possible even if I beat every level.
Was going to leave it until I forgot how to do it, but I got angry enough with myself over that, I essentially etched the frigging info into my head.
And so, I'm now just trying to clear it so I can eventually forget most of the experience all together. -laughs-

Don't feel too badly, memory-wise. My memory's often crap whether I'm tired or not.

I'm not sure, I did beat one that I'd been needing to get out of the way for a while after 175 hours.
Right now, I'd say the next big RPG-type thing to clear is Dark Souls 1. That's going to take a while, I'm sure.

I've settled on Lubuntu. Not very adventurous, but coming from a Windows/Mac background I'm used to GUIs and things that have an obvious means of use. The Ubuntu based ones are about approachability as much as ease, and that suits me at the moment. Maybe later I'll go a bit more hardcore...

Good review, I'll be sure to wait until it hits a nice big discount to get it from GOG, then clear my plate and slog my way through it.

I know, right.Always heard to never play Borderlands 1 SP because it'll be a bore, but there's no playing it MP. Missed the 2K sale but I'll wait for the summer sale for me to grab the GOTY edition along with other games.

Glad to hear things are going well, both in general and with the computer crap you've been dealing with.

Well, I'm not too far from the finish, thank the gods. The game is absolutely another example of the current trend of "let's make it challenging first and foremost".
That's all fine and good, but it sure as hell doesn't make the game fun. Designers don't seem to be able to pull off the balancing act between difficulty and actual enjoyment to save their lives.

I have a giftable copy of Borderlands II GOTY in my steam inventory. You can have it if you want.

Enforced difficulty levels have always been a bugbear of mine. Give me a slider that goes from 'Wallflower' to 'King Kong' and I'm happy working my way up to the right level of challenge. Being hit over the head with an iron bar from the off just makes me uninstall and look for something more amenable. I've seen enough iron bars to know it hurts ;-)
