moonshineshadow: Nope. DD realised some time ago that I am a valkyrie :D

(perhaps she still has the picture, I don't have it saved at work)
avatar
EndreWhiteMane: I have a copy, had it made into a poster and it's on my wall titled "Mond". :-)
ok I can't come up with any funny or witty answer to that so just *big hug*

Stilton: This is getting confusing, with owls becoming elephants and battle sisters becoming owls.

Which seems like a good time to come clean, myself.

This is the real me, with my good lady Shieldmaiden...

(sorry in advance for any disappointment)
avatar
EndreWhiteMane: She's a real d........
Nevermind.
That gets the first chuckle of the day.. ;-)

LaPtiteBete: Glad you're doing ok (not better ?)... and had a nice weekend :)
The shower ? Nooo. Endre soaped my beak because I was using too many curse words... so I had to rinse it out... I never do exhausting things over my weekends ;)
Too much just to rinse some soap, pretty sure there's more behind this story. Only question is how to get it out of you... ;-)

A Dog ?! Ô__Ô in a Viking outfit... wow.

LaPtiteBete: Oooh... great. Wait... Valkyries have wings ? Ô__Ô
avatar
ddickinson: Some do. They are fallen shieldmaidens collecting souls of fallen warriors for Valhalla and Fólkvangr. The name in Old Norse actually means "chooser of the slain".
Do you really know all that stuff about Valkyries, or have you just Googled it to blow my mind ? :D

The first one. I love the Anglo-Saxon/Norse era. Norse mythology has always been one of my favourites of all mythology. England shares much of it's ancient culture with Germanic and Scandinavian cultures (due to them settling in and occasionally trying to invade England from time to time), including the pre-Christian religions.

I'm impressed !!!
It's not really anything to be impressed about, I have always loved history, and as I said previously, I very nearly got my doctorate in history and became a historian. So me knowing facts about history is hardly surprising.

Perhaps instead of poems and stuff like that you could tell us some historical fact / event. That would sure be interesting *hug*
(not that I do not like the poems, but historic things would be even better)

All right... then I'm not impressed

In ages past we had a lot of trouble with wild beasts attacking our villages and stealing our food at night. Wolves, boar, even woolly mammoths. By far the worst of these was the mythical Woolly Viking, a former king who had been banished for turning against his people centuries before and making a pact with the Dark Lords. No one ever saw him but his presence was always felt in the deep of night when the wind took on a life of its own and could even steal the breath from your body if you weren't wary. I say that no one ever saw the Woolly Viking, but there once was someone who saw him and lived to tell the tale. That someone was my grandfather. He even took a picture to prove it was true....

Good idea. The main problem with that is I tend to ramble on once I get started with historical topics. I would end up filling the screen with walls of text :-). But it does sound like a good idea, so I will try to mix in some historical facts as well as poems, but I will keep them short (so I don't ramble on and bore people). :-)

That looks more sleepy than unimpressed. It looks like it has been awake all night and is struggling to keep it's eyes open. :-)

Ah yes, the deadly Woolly Viking. Dread of the Northern lands. :-)

Don't be fooled! He's dangerous and fearsome, he could even suck your shins to death!

(although 'he' looks like a girl to me....maybe my grandfather was lying...)

Yeah! Also I don't mind if it is longer text. While it was very clear that historics would never be a direction to go for me for studies I always liked them and found them interesting, so I won't be bored ;-)

You may be right. Perhaps the cuteness is a trick to get near his victims :P

Yes, I think so. Such ruthless cunning in one so short... No wonder we're all terrified at the mere mention of his Woolliness... It sends shivers down my spine.
