Well yeah, the bullshit in Fahrenheit makes the entirety of Bioshock look like a frigging masterpiece by comparison.
Fahrenheit also had potential, but that game doesn't go into disappointment territory. It goes into straight-up insulting the audience levels of bad.
And those assholes had the nerve to rerelease it and call it remastered. I nearly had a rage seizure when I saw that.

When it comes to Kojima, everything I've seen regarding their absolutely ridiculous, bloated as all hell writing makes me not want to do the Metal Gear Solid series.
I played the first, it was fine. Played the second, and I vaguely remember it not being good. From there, the whole series has been a pass.
Also, Metal Gear Solid 4 being infamous for having, what, 8 hours of cutsenes doesn't make me want to invest in a PS 3. There are better ways to piss away my time.

I was actually talking about Infinite. I never really cared much for the original game characters. Bioshock 1 was a firm adherent to the mute fps protagonist policy which gave him about as much personality as a carboard box or two twilight characters. Rapture itself was the most interesting character in the whole game. But because I didn't feel for any of the characters, the ending left me with a feeling of... "meh".

Also with the idea of hipster Ken Levine.

Nothing, absolutely NOTHING, is comparable to the sheer horror, frustration and overwhelming sense of FFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUU... I felt when I finally saw the final two chapters of Evangelion. Back when I was a teenager and I thought that was the ultimate shit in deep thoughtful animu.

It took me years to accept the fact that it was a visually filled, plot empty story with a "let's throw a random obscure reference for coolness and let the viewers fanwank some crazy explanation." writing approach.

Years later, JJ Abrams pulled the same trick.

First red flag for Infinite - the scene with the interracial couple. Obvious attempt at emotional manipulation was obvious.
The dimension shit might as well have come with a neon sign saying, "Well, we had to string this shit together somehow."

I remember watching that and going, "Well, this is absolutely ridiculous." Watched until the end, and that was it.
I don't mind a series that talks about deeper concepts and issues, but when they give you nothing but shit that screams, "We ran out of money, so let's talk our way to the finish line 'cuz making pictures move is expensive."?
Uh uh. Total crap.
I know they did a "reimagining" of the series, but the original left enough of a bad taste in my mouth that I didn't latch onto those either.

Almost forgot. When they've kept saying quantum in the ending of Infinite,I was like.

I'm starting to get that creeping feeling of information overload bouncing between three or four games and three or four movie/TV shows. -laughs-

20 years time, and it shifts from "I hope I can find one good thing at the video store" to "there is no frigging way I will ever cover everything, no matter how much time I spend doing so".

Quite. I saw it too, but I am more passive in that respect, and allow myself to be manipulated, who knows, if I go along with a game's silly bullshit I might even end up having a good time.

As for Evangelion. I've remained a fan throughout the years Metron knows why. I even have the DVD collection staring right at me.

The thing is that Evangelion presents extremely compelling and interesting story concepts. However those concepts are never explored because they had absolutely no idea what to do do with them and were added just to "look cool". Instead choosing to focus on the human characters which are almost as retarded as your typical twilight one.

What are the angels, where do they come from, how do the Evas fit in, what is Nerv's and Seelee's ultimate purpose? Those are never explained because they never bothered to come up with explanations for them. They were tacked on, instead of basing the story around them. Probably because they were aware that no matter what they came up with, it'd be ultimately disappointing. So instead they dangled the "here's an emotionally traumatised teenager with abandonment issues NOT dealing with it while piloting a giant, god-murdering robot" bit in front of the audience to keep them from realising it too soon.

The Rebuild movies, were promising, until the 3rd one royally fucked things up again.
