moonshineshadow: Cyling is not really possible here if you are not completely crazy, too much slope everywhere :D
I was also thinking about swimming. I always had fun doing that. I think I will check if there is a good location nearby.
I was also thinking about perhaps taking some Taekwondo lessons but there is the language problem. I did some martial arts before so trying another would be interesting. Perhaps in two years when I move away from here.
I can see why cycling would be difficult with lots of slopes. Swimming sounds like a good choice, especially if you have fun doing it. Hopefully there is someone good nearby were you can enjoy some time swimming. Taekwondo also sounds fun, but I can understand your reluctance due to the language barrier. The nice thing about swimming is that it's good exercise but it's not too strenuous. I am lucky to have some natural places to swim nearby, and also some Olympic size pools in the nearby towns. The advantage of the indoor pools is that they are heated. The North Sea is the coldest place I have swam in. It was during Winter last year and for a charity event. I was like a frozen icicle when I got out of the water. But it was still fun.
