I am actually proud of myself for getting everything on my list done today despite not being able to start any of it until five in the afternoon. Being limited to eating after physical therapy and missing the opportunity to do it before he blazing heat starts means you don't get breakfast until dinner time.

zenwan: Good morning, evening - coffee, yum. :-) 5am here, and everybody is sleeping or gaming, it seems.

Hi to you when you get here, Crow - sorry I missed you yesterday. I remember reading somewhere about Galaxy, but can't find where. I think you have to be one of the Chosen Ones?
Hope that it's at least a little less frustrating than your last few games have been.

I tried to join in here yesterday afternoon, but after I'd posted once or twice, the GOGbear had other ideas. Hope it stays away today.
Meantime I have stuff to do, letters to write and a reference for a friend applying for a post at a University - academics are very picky about getting just the right reference, so I have to brush up on my jargon. ;-)

We've had lots of rain here, the trees are happy and should be set for the long hot dry summer to come. More rain predicted today, I hope the power doesn't go off. I'll be sure to have a flask of coffee ready, just in case. :-)

I'll leave you with my best wishes for a very happy day or night, and my hopes that things will be better for those who are struggling.
My replies to most of you never seem to get noticed; I seem to be mostly rather invisible here, but my good thoughts are with you all the same. I guess this thread moves too fast for people to keep up, including me.
In any event, I don't mind being invisible, I'm a quiet, solitary type. :-)

Take care.
Good morning. =)

It's okay, no need to apologize. I was distracted doing other things.

Yes, got an invite for it earlier today. Will need to try it out fully when my bandwidth's in better shape.
It's an alpha, so any possible frustration is mitigated quite a bit by that knowledge.
The crappy games I play, on the other hand...those are supposedly finished products.

It will be good when GOG can actually get the site back to a stable form. Having it in upheaval all the time is getting rather old, especially considering that as people have said, improving the forum is not close to even being a low priority right now.

More coffee - always a good idea. ;) Getting to enjoy some rain is an added bonus.

The thread's odd, stopping and starting when people choose for it to.
And of course, having notifications for replies or messages being almost nonexistent isn't helping matters much.
I have to leave my GOG downloader on to get semi-current info regarding responses, and continually check my email to see if someone's sent me a message.

I hope you have a good day as well, and thank you for the kindness.
Also, don't worry about being invisible. Everyone's a ghost here. ;)

CarrionCrow: Good morning. =)

You can say that whenever you want, depending on the adaptability of the person you're saying it to.
If someone applies it to time of day all the time, then it gets odd.

Also, you kinda sound like how I might feel when my list is cleared. What to do when you have what you want?
Such a pain. -laughs-
I'd say pick one, flip a coin if you can't decide on one or the other, then go for it.
avatar
superstande: Thanks :)
I think about heading somewhere quiet today and bringing my laptop with me. Gives me space to calm down properly, surf the net in solitude, bring some fresh coffee. Hopefully by afternoon I've picked a game. Any game :)
Of course my recent completionist's playthrough of Witcher 1 EE only adds to this feeling of emptiness ...
You're welcome. =)

Sounds like a plan, letting your mind gently drift you towards the next item. Beats feeling pressured to cover everything at once, having to pick and choose and prioritize, making plans for something that should be relaxed.

Do you have any other RPG's, by chance? Maybe that empty feeling you're having post-game is a sign to find another world to immerse yourself in.

I don't do hugs generally, but I'll wish you a good evening/very early morning from here. =)

Sounds like you've had a long day, even before the complication of not getting to have meals at standard times.
Not sure what you're having to do physical therapy for, but hopefully it's helping. Figuring that's not something you have to deal with for minor issues.

When I was in high school I shattered a disk (l4/l5) I was extremely overweight at the time and used that as an excuse to keep stacking more pounds on. I'm pretty much just trying the limit the long term damage now of dumbass fifteen years ago me.

Good evening. =)

Yeah, within a couple hours people from Europe should be getting up, doing their weekend thing.

How's your day been going?

If nothing else, you sound way more self-aware than you were then, and you're working to improve things, rather than what some people do, continuing to be oblivious, even to their own motives in life.

Don't have too many of those left, thanks to GOG having way more good items than bad ones, along with having not rented huge amounts of garbage bundle stuff.
Now it's just deciding whether to play newer stuff that's good like Desktop Dungeons or Legend of Grimrock, older good stuff like Jade Empire and KOTOR, or doing replays of good stuff I haven't run through in years like Icewind Dale, Baldur's Gate 2 or Planescape.

Never rented a game,so how does it work. Can you only play off CD or install and play
via CD?Also what happens to the leftover stuff? Do you need to find it and delete it?

Sorry, I call stuff purchased from the competition rentals, since I never feel as though I actually own them.
There's no way to actually rent a PC game like you would a disc from a video store that I know of.

My ultimate advice - don't do stuff from the competition, since it's essentially a rental service.
Right now, I have 160 games on my GOG wishlist.
I have zero on my wishlist for the competition.

That depends on what you are looking for...Gog is ok,but a lot of games that I want will
never come here..

Understandable. I just don't want to spend money supporting companies I don't trust.
And I absolutely don't trust Steam.
Good morning, everyone!

Lucky buggers, some of us have been up since 5am. :-)
Hey guys.

avatar
CarrionCrow: Good evening. =)

I always thought it meant sleep securely, from the days when you could be attacked by a bear or something while taking a nap out on a trail somewhere.
avatar
trentonlf: I think it can mean sleep soundly or sleep securely, but I believe it refers to the meaning of the word tight, look at #20
I think I know this (although my knowledge comes from either Big Bang Theory or QI so it may not be 100% accurate) but apparently it comes from when beds had ropes to hold the mattress and you would have to tighten them to improve the support (I suppose?) which is where the phrase comes from.
