Morning Endre.

Any PC gurus up and around, I'm curious about something,

Last night I got my standard monthly 'Windows Needs to Update' memo, so I install and restart, and OH SHIT....my pc is running at a snails pace! It took me forever just to log in here and forget playing something; the framerate was shit even on my older games.

Well I fucked around with it for 3 or 4 hours, did a virus scan, did a MalWar scan, to no avail, and eventually went to sleep. Well this morning (knock on wood) everything is working fine and up to speed.

Any ideas?

Yep, when you did the install all it did was download files, AFTER you restarted is when it actually finished the install of those files.
It was very slow while it was doing that. No worries. ;)

When it's installing those it won't show that it is doing it? I mean like if I open up task manager it won't show up in "Applications" as running? Again forgive my tech ignorance! :P

I seem to have missed what's going on with innocuous77, but I surmise she's about to lose a loved pet? Very sorry to hear that, I hope you get the needed support to go through the hard times. :/

budejovice: I remembered the script was in play when I was asked recently via PM about two specific games I mentioned in the Double Tracker. ;) I just went ahead and fessed up.

And yes, it was LoG2. Dead State happily awaits my new computer build.

And feel free to stop rooting around your secret networks. I have so little time and energy right now, it baffles me that nice folks have some to spare! Yet, it is noted. :)

Small correction - I knew about LoG2.and Dead State because you had mentioned them to me in a PM; the post that made me certain that it was LoG2 that you missed was this one. Sadly, my efforts to get a code for you were fruitless, makes me wish I had not redeemed my crit hit on the title as I got it in its third and last round.

At that stage it just sits and chugs away till it's done. It varies with the specific update but what you describe is pretty normal.


Hi everyone. Hope every one is OK today. My meds put me to sleep for a while, but I needed that so all is good. We'll see how they do when I take them today. ;)

The medicine did it's job. I'm feeling good now. Good enough to punish my brain with some chemistry puzzles :-)
