l0rdtr3k: This is one of those days that I want to lay down on my bed and coccon myself with my blanket.
Are you not having a good day? Would you like another big hug?

*big hug*

Ixamyakxim: What's HM2?
Hotline Miami 2

Or Hot Mistress 2, depending on if Crow or Endre said it. :-)

moonshineshadow: I also finished it. It was really nice and fun :-)
I have not played Torchlight yet, only played the second a bit which was a nice hack and slay for playing it together with someone. Alone it was boring so I never finished it.

ddickinson: I can see how Torchlight would be fun with someone else playing alone, but by yourself it's just so repetitive, with very little story or customisations. Quite sad really, considering it was made by some of the staff from Blizzard.

EndreWhiteMane: I'm more the Wile E Coyote type, lots of planning, few successes. :/

ddickinson: But at least you are inventive and never give up. :-)
Yeah, it's not all that great. I tried Torchlight 1 more than once but got bored with it. 2's more interesting, but even with improvements they hadn't upped their game enough to make it interesting for multiple playthroughs.
LOL Oh nevermind I just went back to the general forum and saw a thread about Hotline Miami releasing today - I think I can figure the rest out ;)

The game itself wasn't bad from what I remember, I think the problem was the world and story were a bit meh. I remember playing Diablo 1 & 2 as a kid and the world was awesome. I used to really over level because I was terrified of the boss battles.

Torchlight's cartoony style just doesn't engage you in the same way..

EndreWhiteMane: Crow, why don't you reserve a post for your blow by blow review of HM2?
Then we can all link to it and see it as it updates, AND you can use it for your game review later.
avatar
CarrionCrow: I can post info here in between levels if people want, impressions and what-not.

Roughly 5 minutes left and it'll be ready for install.
Cool, we can just link HERE for Crows Hotline Miami 2 review.
avatar
CarrionCrow: Not a problem. Better a warning now than you plummeting into the Grand Canyon, with only a tiny poof of dust to signify the impact point later. ;)
avatar
EndreWhiteMane: And another one! I may be tired but I'm cheering up nicely.
Between this and our mad Brit gifting me Toonstruck. (Against my wishes I might add) :-)
-laughs- Yeah, I saw her flashing that evil grin...

Torchlight looked nice, but there was just nothing to it. Just repeated level after repeated level. The story was very basic, and it was just so boring. I did like the pet and the fact you could send it off to sell items. But there were way to many unidentified items.

It looked a LOT like Fate. I never liked the style of the Fate series, so that was a major negative.
Also, when I play a game, I want my character to be the one annihilating enemies.

Whether it's Diablo 2 or Baldur's Gate, I don't go for summoners when I can have fireball and lightning bolt slinging powerhouses instead.
Having a pet there constantly, like a summon monster I couldn't get rid of, was a problem as well.

Strange reputation for someone who hasn't even had a date in years. Dontcha think? :-)

I liked the cartoony style, I liked the layout, the controls, the nice cute little pet. But for me, after a few levels, everything was just the same thing. No real difference, too much loot, the same enemies. I loved Diablo 2, and if Torchlight had had a decent story with some more depth to the game play I know I would have liked the game, but it just bored me. I didn't end up finishing it, but I did check if the story got better just in case, and nope. so at least I saved myself some time by abandoning the game. Oh, and I liked that the female character could have guns instead of just bow and arrows. I liked dual wielding guns and blowing everything apart. :-)

EndreWhiteMane: Sorry you're so tired, I haven't slept all night either so I feel for you.
I like DST just because now I get up at a 'human hour' of 0600 or so. :)
Blehhh. Sorry you had a rough night, too. How's everyone else doing this fine day?

Gigolos don't usually call them dates do they? :-)

Maybe we should start a GOG dating service, and find you a lovely lady to play some games with.
This game must be really active, the downloader's frozen up 5 times retrieving it.

I was the complete opposite in Diablo 2, my two (unfinished, never did win the game) run throughs were with a Necromancer and a Druid. Shapeshifting and Skeleton hordes FTW! ;)

Then again, as mentioned above, I was always a bit nervous in Diablo so it was good to have sacrificial minions I could leave behind to stall enemies if I needed to run away... XD
