AgentBirdnest: Seriously? So if a group of people reported this thread as spam, it would just vanish?
avatar
adaliabooks: Unfortunately, yes.

avatar
EndreWhiteMane: I used to know this but how do you report a thread as spam?
avatar
adaliabooks: Down rep the post, and then the report spam button appears where the rep buttons were.
Got it, thanks.

Use the power wisely ;)

While it's a bit dangerous that people could just delete threads, I think it was needed today. A rough estimate suggests there were at least 1400 threads when the idiot stopped his script... Deleted by the power of the GoG community though, so all's well that ends well :)

Hope GOG's grateful that they have 'self-maintaining' forums.
Wait...No way. I don't believe that a blue was not involved.
moonshineshadow said there were over 20 pages of spam threads (with 50 threads per page.)
I do not accept the idea that vigilant forums users alone were able to eliminate over 1000 threads.

You would hope so... Maybe they could reward us with better forums? ;)

Yup, there were 40 pages when I first checked, each with about 35 threads per page (I think). But no blues about today becaues of the holidays, so we systematically reported them all as spam and they were auto deleted.

Better believe it, it only takes a few people reporting a post as spam for it to get auto-deleted.
I reported a good number myself, but many just threw me to the first page of the General discussion when hitting that "report as spam" button which means that they were being deleted as I was clicking that button.

If that really was the case, then well done GOGers!

Yeah, I just chose a page in the middle of the spam and reported a load of posts there, so when everyone else caught up they would delete that much quicker.

adaliabooks: Well if no one minds me cluttering up this place with my random stuff I probably will.
I can't speak for everyone, but I for one wouldn't mind you cluttering the place up. That's what this thread is for, and people just love helping other out on here. So I would say post away, even if we can't be of much help, we can still offer encouragement.

avatar
HypersomniacLive: Funny, I could suggest the same for you, but by the ones you've already made, apparently you're not interested in doing any of the two. ;-)
And no, this is will not get you to dumb Fist Puncher on me. ;-P
You are not setting a very good example. You want me to be more open to accepting gifts, but here you are not willing to do the same. Maybe if you promised to accept a gift then I would try to be more open to sharing my wishlist and accepting gifts. So how about it? You promise to accept a gift from me, and I will share my written wishlist. :-)

We just wiped out over a thousand threads of the same nonsensical mantra, and you're worrying about cluttering this thread?

This is an interesting challenge. I hope you're aware that I'm not a complete fool to fall for a silly trick like this. If you really want to strike this sort of deal with me, you have to go through with your end of the bargain first - get a GOGWiki account, be honest and post your full wishlist, and keep it public and updated at all times; no tricks of any kind, ever.

An still no, Fist Puncher won't make it onto my shelf.

Side note - cheers for constantly teaching me new verbs, first "to to", now "to so". How many more two letter verbs that end in an O do you know? ;-P

So I have to do everything, but you still don't have to accept a gift from me? That doesn't seem fair. You should lead by example, you should be the gentlemen and go first, just to be nice and show you are serious about the proposition.

Thank you for not avoiding mentioning it, I'm glad you took my advice and didn't let my previous remark put you off. It should, of course, say "to do", not "to so". I was on a mobile device, so that could be down to auto-correct, a slip of the finger (s is next to d) or my brain making me look silly, again. :-)

Look who's talking. Since it was you that made the specific proposition, I think it's only fair that you should be the one to lead by example, be a lady and go first to show that you're actually serious about your own proposal. But we both know that you're not, and only trying to trick me. Well, it won't work - my terms have nth to do with not wanting to lead by example (plenty of people here can attest that I'm open to gifts, so long as they're also, and I don't mean that on a quid pro quo basis), or with not being a gentleman (at least some can attest to this one too? ;-P); I simply don't trust you to see your end of the deal and for good reason. Simple as that, you have to win my trust on this one, words won't cut it. ;-)

And speaking of gifts, I'd like to thank you for the gift code for the King's Quest titles, but as you can see here and on my GOGWiki page, my fabulous Secret Santa covered this and plenty more. So, your gift code is still looking for a good home. :-)

I think it's the manifestation of your subconscious aversion towards the verb "do" in the context of certain things on this board. ;-P
Just put a load of yesterdays dinner in the oven to reheat for the traditional second Christmas dinner. *om nom nom*

And drinking a vodka, cranberry and blood orange cocktail.

And in a few days time we do it all again for New Year.

Anyone doing anything special for New Years? Any traditions?

As previously mentioned, due to our love of Christmas dinner, we have started cooking another turkey (with some what less extras, but not always) on New Years eve, and eating Christmas Dinner sandwiches into January.
Let's celebrate winter (summer here) by dancing and doing things you'll regret but your family will never let you forget XD

We have a tradition regarding food for New Year's Eve: Raclette. And on New Year my mum will do some great dinner again :D
I think I need to go on a diet after these holidays :P
