ddickinson: Good morning! Hug or a wave, I can't remember?

It has been nice reading all the lovely messages I got, people here really are great.

I knew trent would be a danger, I know Crew would try to stop him, but I fear that without help, he is just too powerful for one person to stop. :-)

Thank you for the offer of Defender's Quest, but I seem to already own it. hopefully you can find it a good home.
Waves usually, but if you still feel in need of hugs I'm sure I could make an exception ;)

Yeah, there are some really great people here (particularly in this thread), I think that's one of the things I really like about following the sales, its great to see the generosity of people on these forums.

trent cannot be stopped, and why would we want too? :)
He gave me a very generous gift of NWN 2 at Christmas that I still haven't got around to (as I need to play the first one), completely out of the blue :)

No worries, I think I've already spotted a target who I may be able to give it too... :D

ddickinson: I know you are capable of hugs, I was just being playful, or trying to be. I find that a bit of silliness helps to cheer me up now and then. It's nice to be back, I had sooo many PMs. I never knew people would miss me so much.

Forgive me for not asking about your friend, my mind is all over the place lately. How is she doing? I remember you saying she would get worse before she got better, but I hope she is coping okay with it and that her spirits are still high? I'm sure she will battle through it, especially with good friends like you by her side offering comfort hugs.

And how are you doing? Did you have any luck with some free games during the promo?
I know you were, and my reply was returning the playfulness. :-)

Nth to forgive, I've gone similar experiences and know only too well how one's mind feels like it's drifted out of their skulls.
My friend seems to have officially entered the getting worse phase a bit over two of weeks ago. Her symptoms are now more intense and constant, but still at a manageable degree. She will battle through, she's one hell of a trooper alright, and we try whatever we can to help her with keeping her spirits high. And my hugs go way beyond just comforting. ;-)

All things considered, I'm ok. I had a couple of mishaps, but nth really worth talking about.

I did get lucky with the free games, my last one was Tetrabot and Co. last night.
Here's a funny story about scoring free games.
I got Door Kickers as a freebie in its first round. Some time later, trentonlf asked us to keep an eye on it and get him a copy if he's not around. When it showed up for its second round, I said to myself "no way", but clicked that Buy Now button anyway; lo and behold, I got a second freebie! I promptly sent it to trentonlf. Then I had a little chat with Enebias where he mentioned that he'd like the game but couldn't afford it, so I decided to try my luck in its third round (wouldn't that have been something?); no dice. But trentonlf got one this time - haha! He offered it to me, and I asked him to give it to Enebias; my wish came true after all. :-D

LaPtiteBete: They didn't have much to do... I have absolutely no willpower when it's about Insomnia sales... :")
Yes ! I played the 3 first episodes ! I loved the main guy's voice and accent ^^ . I've never played the most recent ones... what about you, do you know them ?
I own them all on GOG, but I have not played the newer ones yet. The first two are my favourites, and some of my all time best point-and-click games. I am just having a look at peoples wishlist to see if I have any spare codes for games they want. So far no luck, so I might have to eventually go buy some more gifts to throw at people. I am getting gifting withdrawal from missing Insomnia. :-)

Well I will stick to waves, as you prefer them. I have been getting all the hugs I need from my partner. Even if most of those were while she was full of flu. :-)

Trent needs to be kept in check, or his gifting addiction will get out of control, and I don't want Crew to make us wear the t-shirt of shame again. Christmas was a nice time here, my Secret Santa was so evil and gifted me so much, I felt guilty becasue of how much I got. I probably will just be a helper elf next year, to save me from more overly generous gifters.

Well I hope you friend will be fine and that this stage will pass swiftly, or as swiftly as it can. I'm sure she is a trooper, going through such things often brings out the strength and resolve of a person.

A couple of mishaps? I hope they were nothing serious?

I missed all the generosity that comes with the insomnia sale, although with my luck I know I would have gotten no free games, but I would have gifted dozens of them from the promo. I will have to make up for this next insomnia sale.

You are crazy, in a good way ;-)

Speaking of spare codes... You wouldn't happen to want Tesla Effect, or know someone who does? I can't seem to get rid of this code. I can't find it on any wishlists.
Thanks for the info. I would've posted my wishlist on the gifting thread but since I'm not welcome there...
Also I'm playing Cave Story, quite a great game.

l0rdtr3k: Nein. Got nothing.

ddickinson: That's a same. But I might be able to fix that. I noticed you had Downfall on your wishlist, did you know that this is Freeware now on the publishers site? The link below should take you to the download page. Apparently there is due to be a HD remake, so they are offering the original game for free.

LaPtiteBete: I can't even imagine how you feel... :'-( ...there's no words...

I had a nice week and weekend, yes... Both baby owlet and I got a cold, though... I bought... (check)... 30 games (oh... !!! gosh õ__ô... but why do I do that...), got 2 ninja-gifts from lovely people of this thread, and 0 freebie.
avatar
ddickinson: 30 games! I don't think I have ever purchased that many games during a single sale. I bet those boys were pressuring you into it. :-)

I noticed that you have the Broken Sword games on your wishlist. Have you played them before?

Crazy you say *rubs hands together while giving an evil smile*. So would now be a bad time to say that I was going to host another members only giveaway, just for the awesome regulars of the thread? :-)

Thank you for the offer of Tesla Effect, but I already own it. But have a big thank you hug for the kind offer.

*thank you hug*
Hello Battle Sister!!!!!!!

Its lovely having that pretty face back here where it belongs ;-)

I'm extremely sorry to read about the time you've been having, and please give your brother and his wife a Viking hug from me. I cannot imagine what it must be like to be going through what they are right now. In time they will gain some perspective, but right now it must be a dreadfully hard thing to deal with. They have all of our warmest thoughts.

And the very best wishes to your mother and partner, too ;-)

But you're back, and that's a good thing, so welcome home!

This phase is expected to last up to 18 months; I fear it will take all she's got, but given that there was no alternative really, I'm confident she'll hang in there and come out a winner, even if it takes the maximum (3yrs).

You can never know how it'd have turned out for you with the freebies. I'm also one of those that luck always shows a cold shoulder to, but I did get a few, which was a great thing as I'm pretty broke and wasn't in a position to take advantage of the Promo (bought only two gifts); thanks to the freebies, I now have a couple of gift codes for future use. :-)

I can't for the life of me imagine how one can gain any perspective on such a horrific event. My late grandmother, who saw more than one of her children die, said once that there's nth worse than a parent outliving their children, it's against nature.

Hello!

How are things with the resident Viking? Is the little Viking and the lovely Shieldmaiden doing okay?

HypersomniacLive: So much for changing your stance on accepting gifts.
Well I was very humbled by my Secret Santa, I would not feel right accepting more Christmas gifts this year after what I was gifted last Christmas. And you are a fine one to talk about not accepting gifts, have you forgotten about Fist Puncher? :-)

That does not sound good, especially if it could take three years. I wish your friend all the best, I was tempted to say give her a big hug from me, but then that might be weird, getting a hug from someone she didn't know. :-)

Where there any must have games on the promo that you wanted but missed out on?

I am thinking of a giveaway along the lines of one lucky winner gets any game from GOG. But then I cold also ask people to pick $5.99 games and I could gift several people. Which do you think is best: several little prizes or someone getting one big prize (like The Witcher 3, for example)?

I think what he meant was that it can often have a beneficial change to a persons outlook on life. We start to appreciate what we have, to enjoy the real things that matter more. I know that after my attack I looked at life differently, I had a better appreciation of what and who is truly important to me. It in no way takes away the hurt and suffering, but it can be a small consolation.

Of course, it can also have a negative effect, it all depends how you let the horrible parts of life effect you.

I can't either. I am sorry for your loss ddickinson. I came across this quote "They say when a parent dies, a child feels his own mortality, but when a child dies, it's immortality that a parent loses" just around the time my aunt lost her youngest son. It was difficult for me to see her go through that

How about we two start the "Conversational Free-for-All Giveaway"? You could offer your Tesla Effect and I will put in Blocks that matter and if anyone else is interested they can join in?

Perspective always comes if you give it enough time and room to grow. It doesn't mean that the loss becomes any less hurtful or that the value of who is gone diminishes, but that with sufficient time and thought your understanding of the event deepens and you can place it in a context which allows the possibility of acceptance and even closure. Human beings are survivors, if they weren't we wouldn't be talking now.

Myself and my mini-clan are all well, thank you ;-) The raiding season will begin again when the weather picks up, so fairly soon we'll be back to the old nine to five ;-)
