They seem to be faulty, if he's wearing them but still hits stairs to fall upwards on.

Just not very careful when going up stairs at speed... used to do it a lot at my previous work, too much rushing up the stairs carrying things...

Obvious scam is obvious, for the exact reasons Endre has mentioned.

Tech support will never call you directly without identifying themselves, and will never know you have a virus on your private computer. They might, on a work monitored terminal, but never on your machine.

They put a shitload of Indy up and it's still flying. :)

Ongoing advice is this:
If anyone ever calls like that about anything. Computer, car, toaster or toothbrush.
Tell them you are busy and will need to call them back. Ask for a name, company name, phone and extension.
If they haven't hung up yet they will, or say something rude and then hang up. :-)
