The first one was also nice. Of course it did not have the outdoor experience which made the second one really great but I still found it a good game. But I may be biased by nostalgics since the graphics of the first one totally reminded me of Lands of Lore 1 :D

Nothing wrong with that, I first got interested in Grimrock because it reminded me of Eye of the Beholder.
