moonshineshadow: yep that is what I am thinking. They look quite nice, but on the other hand my backlog :D That is why I am asking for opinions to make up my mind ;-)
avatar
ddickinson: The dreaded backlog. I wonder how many people resist buying more games due to the backlog. I know it's one of the biggest decision makers for me. I have more than enough to play, so until I have played at least half of my shelf (which is about 100 games), I will only be getting games I really want.
I have at the moment played 35% of the games I have on gog... which is not a good percentage. But it is sometimes really hard to resist when the games are so cheap and you can afford it :D
avatar
CarrionCrow: Nothing wrong with that.

You have a busy life, and you're a hell of a lot more sensible than I am, so it's easy to see why you're content with what you've got. =)

ddickinson: My problem is that I work long hours, so when I have free time I like to spend it with my partner, or reading a book while she is watching TV. I usually play games while she is asleep and I'm still awake. I only need a few hours sleep (about 4-5) so it helps me pass the time while I am by myself. But usually I end up just reading. But the last few weeks I have been trying to play the games I own, and so far I have finished a few, which is a good record for me over the last year or so. I am currently playing Driftmoon, recommended to me by Moon. And so far it's a very nice game, not too complicated and with some silly fun. It's been a while since I last played an RPG.
I've been doing the same thing, finally digging into the backlog and trying to make some real dents in it.

I think I own Driftmoon, will have to try that one. =)
Hi again ! I'm back from lunch. Hope you're all doing good...
Tea for someone ?...
I have some work to do... but I'm still lurking here as well :)

CarrionCrow: Watching a video of people making fun of Final Fantasy 13 and groaning.

That game sucked so much...
I stopped at Final Fantasy X. It was a good game, a bit too linear, the story was not the best, and no world map, which is a staple of Final Fantasy games, but it was okay. Once they started making stuff like Final Fantasy X-2, which was just aimed at dirty minded adolescents, I lost interest. Final Fantasy VII is one of my all time favourite game though, followed closely by Final Fantasy VIII.

Do you use Steam as well, or just GOG?

I am enjoying Driftmoon. It's not the best RPG ever, but the game runs smoothly, the story is interesting, and it's not as complicated as the more hard core RPG's on GOG. Perfect for me to play now and then when I have time.

Hello again Owl!

I would love some tea, thank you. *big hug*

Did you see the news on the main page? The Germans have followed the French example and invaded GOG to establish their own sub-forum. :-)

I have steam but not many games there. Some games from bundles and a few I bought to play with my mum (like the newest Lego games). I normally avoid buying there so the backlog there is only a few bundle games. And normally these cheap indies are quite short so I could finish them probably really fast.

Most of my backlog is either here on gog or disks :D

That's good, I know that Steam games are often very cheap, so I bet it's so easy to get a nice big backlog on there. I'm glad I'm not the only one who still has games on disk. I have quite a few, all dating back to the good old days when games just had serial numbers and not DRM. :-)

Yep I still love to have these disks. My backlog is like this: 50% on gog, 45% on disks and 5% steam and bundle games :D And while the price of course is some reason for buying games I am not a fan of the steam client since it had already blocked me from playing my games when I had trouble with my internet connection, so I only buy a game which uses steam if I have no other choice and since my backlog is big that is even less reason to buy there. I think the only games added to my steam in the last year were Lego Lord of the Rings and Lego Hobbit :D

*wave* german reporting in :D
And I would like some of the green tea with mint flavor. It sounds nice :-)

I don't mind what kind of tea, just as long as it's warm. (I'm freezing in this wind :-)).

Mond ist aus Deutschland. (that should translate to Moon is from Germany, but probably not, Google translator is not always that accurate.). :-)

I think we have a lovely mixture of people from all over the work on this thread. Mostly from Europe and America, but also some from Australia and beyond.

I can understand the appeal of Steam, especially with the cheap bundles. There are several games that I would love to play, but sadly they are DRM only. So I make do with the games I already have, which is good enough for me.

Here is your tea... so you're German, but live in Switzerland... (does it count as an invader, DD ?... ^^)

Yep I can understand that. I also prefer DRM free, but there are games where I make an exception. Games I can play with my mum. And since I already have the steam account for that reason I added the bundle games also :D But i am not buying bundles anymore so there are not many games getting added ;-)

And you are correct moon translates to "Mond" :D

Of course it does, just becasue Moon is not taking part doesn't mean the rest of Germany is not invading. But don't worry. I told Moon that if we lose her to the German forum (or you to the French forum for that matter), I will launch a full scale invasion, destroying the sub-forums and bringing you both back to this thread, where you belong. :-)
