ddickinson: Good day, Moonshine! *big hello hugs*

I was wondering where you where this morning, the place is never the same with out you here.
*big return hug* I was quite busy and had no time to check the forum. That does not happen often but sometimes work does that ;-)

Hello, Moony.
*big hug* glad you are not just lurking as you said you might earlier
Two glitch levels down, world 3 completely cleared, and on my way to clearing world 4 entirely.

Yes! Progress!

-looks at the field of world 5 dark levels that haven't been touched, let alone beaten within the A+ time limit-

Son of a bitch....
I just noticed that on Saturday it's my GOG Birthday, I will be 1 year old on GOG. :-)

I am contemplating hosting a giveaway to celebrate (and because I have not done many this year), but I can't decide to do one just for the lovely people on this thread, or for the general forum.

Hello, Moony.
Well, well, well. If it isn't Agent 700. Is that the CIA alternative of 007? I wondered if you were a secret agent. :-)

Since it is your gog birthday perhaps we should give you some games since normally you should be getting gifts and not giving them on your birthday :P

That's a good idea.

D, have you ever played Fahrenheit? >=)

Shhh! Not so loud, or Hyper will hear you and get ideas. :-)

Receiving gifts is for normal birthdays, not GOG birthdays. GOG birthdays are for gifting games and making someone happy. I like making people happy more than I do getting games for myself. I am tempted to host another giveaway just for the locals here in the thread, especially as I have not been to active on the forums lately, other here on here.

Do you mean this one: Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy)?

If so then no, but I do own it. I don't remember buying it, but that seems to happen with a lot of the games on my shelf. (I know the date, it's shown on the shelf, but I just don't recall buying it.)

Oh yeah, that's the one.

Gifted that to a person one time just to be mean. -laughs-
Meh... I need to complain a bit... Whey could gog not get rights for the German language packs of adventure games like Runaway series... I had really hoped for that since they released the French patches... But no... And honestly this promo is a joke... even adding games like Memoria or Chains of Satinev to it which do not have the German language pack added... Why the heck are they even in a promo that is meant as introduction for the German gog introduction... And while we are on it... scre Daedalic I'll never buy a game from them anymore if it is not below $5, I do not care if they go bankrupt they would deserve it for their attitude.
*end of rant*

It's one of those games that I hear is quite terrible, but that I wanted to try for myself. I guess I picked it up during a good sale, as it's not a game I would pay a lot for.

On the subject of games, I was wondering how good the Dawn of War 2 games are? Are they like Dawn of War and Winter Assault, or are they more like Dark Crusade, just skirmish maps with very little story?

I can't play them either way, due to DRM, but I am just curious as to how good the games are and I remember you mentioning them earlier.

Feel free to complain and rant all you want, about anything. We are here to listen. *big hug*

The sale does not seem as good (discount wise) compared to the French sale. I can understand how frustrating it must be to have so many games that are made in Germany not support the German language. It does seem strange that licensing effects languages.

I also agree with you about Daedalic, not a company I really like, due to how they treat their customers and over charge for games. I hope this new German sub-forum won't mean we will be losing you? If so, then I'm sorry, but we will have to invade and destroy the German forum and take you back. :-)

Yeah, Fahrenheit is really bad.

Low points include - gods awful stealth sections, garbage quicktime events, ridiculous plot twists, main characters who seem to realize how bad the game they're a part of is and run off with no resolution whatsoever, never to be seen again, and the story completely falling down a dark hole of stupidity and incompetence.

Dawn of War 2 is pretty good, actually. It has a real story, which blows something like Soulstorm right out of the water.

Also, being able to customize your characters is a big step up. Course, I'm finding out that the main character makes for a sucky heavy weapons guy, but at least they give you the option.

The big downside that's bugging me is that there are actual boss fights. I'm always left wondering how in the hell the boss characters are able to take literally hundreds and hundreds of bullets to the face before they finally die.

You know what? I wrote to Daedalic about the German language packs. And they told me they would not give them to us because they would have to pay fees since they do not own them. But when I asked them why they are selling them on steam since the same would apply there they started to ignore me. So while I still like there adventures I am not going to spend a high amount of money on their games anymore. They do not deserve to pay paid full price for their games if they have this attitude. At least that is how it works for me.

And do not worry I'll probably almost never visit the German forum or might even forget it exists, since I normally go directly to the General forums when coming to gog, I do not even vist the main page most of the days :D

I really want to try the Dawn of War 2 games, but as long as they use DRM, then I will have to give them a miss. Who knows, maybe one day they will come to GOG. I am used to waiting to play games these days, one of the downfalls of being DRM-Free only.

Really? That is such a scummy move. They are clearly lying, doing what many do and giving more to Steam users. I wonder if it's some agreement with Steam that allows them to do it, Steam exclusive languages maybe. Either way it's horrible that they are doing it. I find it strange that they would need a licence for the native language, but not the English version. I think you are right to not give them your money unless during a sale, any company that treats customers like this don't deserve the business.

So no need to invade Germany (even though you are in Switzerland at the moment) to take you hostage and keep you here with us? That's great news.

*Looks a little disappointed and slowly hides weapons and battle maps for the invasion.*
*Then thinks to myself, "what am I going to do with all these tanks now?"* :-)

It's funny that you mention not paying full price for their items.

I'm honestly a bit surprised that they're still in business. Their items are more than a little overpriced and they deal in point-and-click adventures primarily.

Wasn't going to start paying their asking price, but if they're that dismissive towards a paying customer, that's one more reason to continue going for the lowest possible price for their items.

I was paying full price before just because I love adventure games and play them with my mum and wanted to support them. But with these shitty moves they lost my support and I lost one of the reasons to buy their games.

Maybe Sega will eventually show up. They keep losing money trying to resuscitate the rotting horse known as Sonic, so maybe they'll finally see GOG as a valid way to start making some of that money back.

But, on the other hand, this is the same company that tanked so hard they effectively killed their chances in the console market. So they're not exactly known for making great decisions.

Frankly, they lucked out big time by way of THQ's death.
But even so, I haven't heard much of anything positive when it comes to Company of Heroes 2.
Also, it's a frigging DLC nightmare, every piece of stupid shit imaginable all the way down to camo skins for units, and they want real money for that crap.

I'm sorry about that. It always sucks when you try hard to be supportive of a company you want to see succeed, only to have them turn out to be a piece of crap.
