I wanted to drop in to give a quick update on my game selection for burning a few hours on Thursday since everyone was so helpful with their suggestions.

Most recommendations come heavily-recommended aside from here, of course, but I have bumped everything up some spots in the backlog. :)

Settlers 2 is installed and I hope to take a look at it very soon.

@CarrionCrow - already started Zombie Shooter last night. Good clean fun. But it might be even more seasonally festive if I start alternating from red blood to green blood.

I think I've actually settled on something that I have personally wanted to try for a long time. And it covers both strategy and sim. Strategic Command: European Theater. World War II Grand Strategy that depicts units with counters? Oh my!

It's strategic in that I'll be maneuvering entire armies towards Berlin.
It's a simulation in that I'll be simulating my life as a middle school nerd. :)

HypersomniacLive: I think I am coming down with something; I got a running nose, my eyes burn, and the worst part is that everything aches as if someone was beating me up all day long.
Hope this either never gets going or passes like a popular offering on a first-pass Insomnia deal.
This will likely be my last visit for a few days - my time here has been intermittent at best for a while, so I'll have to swat a bit when I'm back to catch up with everyone.

However, Happy Christmas to all those who celebrate it, and to those who don't, have an enjoyable few days doing what makes you smile. And Sneezon's Greetings to those unfortunate enough to have colds. Hope you all have lots of game playing and good eats to keep your energy levels up.

See you all soon, and, above all, have fun, folks!

Stilton:
Happy Holidays Stilton!
Thanks for all the wishes, my fellow GOGgers!

I was used to getting sick when I was teaching grammar school kids, but it's been a couple of years since I last was in a classroom, and enjoyed not being sick this time of year.

EndreWhiteMane: Yeah, the achy thing goes with the package. I'll trade you for some vanilla with peaches. ;)
Yep, it's the aching that worries me, as it's the second day in a row now, with no signs of getting better.
Are you feeling better today?

avatar
ddickinson: Sorry to hear that. It sounds like you could be coming down with a good old dose of flu. Or maybe I drugged you, beat you up, infected your computer with Fist Puncher, and ran off. What you're experiencing now is the side effect from the knockout gas. :-)

As for the ice-cream bars craving, maybe you're pregnant. ;-)
Did you also get me pregnant? :-P
The only reason I mentioned the ice-cream, is that I find it odd wanting to consume it while coming down with a cold or something.

adaliabooks: Coconut Ice Cream bars? There's definitely something wrong with you :P

Hope you feel better. Being sick is never fun, especially at this time of year.
You know. like Bounty, but with ice-cream and a thin layer of dark, bitter chocolate.

The aches and fatigue are about all I have left, the rest seems to have improved quite a bit.

I know what you meant, I just think coconut is awful :P

Good to hear that you're feeling better, but aches and fatigue suck.

Hmm... I think you just got yourself a few scum points. ;-)

Meanwhile, I can't resist eating coconut ice-cream bars...
Dear gods, you're getting sick too?
-starts hosing down the thread with industrial-strength disinfectant- ;)

Merry Chistmas to you as well Stilton. Here's hoping to your return with great tales of high adventure on your heroic raids yonder the seas to regale us with.

Coconut is disgusting. But carrot-alfalfa-burrito-surströmming flavoured ice cream, now that's sublime.

Wouldn't be bad if the game alternated on its own. Then everything would end up looking like the world's largest exploded boil. I defy someone to get more festive than that concept....

Um....bananas are good, coconut's okay, and spinach is actually really good. Much better than using lettuce for salads.

Damn, sorry about the double post, suffered a sudden but momentary blackout , and things came back exactly as I left them. Which is good.

But in my haste I didn't check to see if the post had gotten through, which is bad.
