tinyE: There must be a bot or a script here screwing with some of us. I wish the staff would do something about it.
avatar
CarrionCrow: That would be nice.

Have to level with you, though. I don't see them doing anything about any part of the forum any time soon, aside from those "oh shit, we broke something really bad and people are getting pissed, need to fix it now" scenarios.
You know what I'm talking about? Whatever it is has hit me for 6 points every day for the past month. Again it's not the points, it's being targeted, every day for the past month. Did I mention EVERY DAY for the past month? XD What would be great is if the system didn't exist and I could be blissfully ignorant to the fact that someone despises me, and has been acting on it, EVERY DAY for the past month. :P

And if my math is correct I won't be able to post links or picks in about 200 days, and knowing my sense of humor, that seriously could be a problem.

There's always the possibility that a glitch in the rep point system is screwing with your account.

The consistency of it is making me lean towards a technical problem.
People tend to be fickle. They'll get pissy about something, then go on and find something else to be pissy about.

A full month sounds like it's either a bug in the system, or some very sad person has nothing better to do.

There is no shortage of very sad people. Remember that WoW story about the trolling camper I told you about?

Oh yeah, I remember. One incredibly lame, pathetic person right there.
See I don't think it's one person. One person isn't good enough to hit me for the same number every day regardless of where or how much I post. Crow might be right in it being a glitch but I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one having this happen.

I'll worry about it tomorrow. *yawn*

So it might be a pack of intensely lame people? -laughs-

Have a good night, sleep well when you get there. =)

Well so much for getting out of here before 8. Huge stack of tax returns to process placed on my desk at... yep, 7:50.

OK, so if I play games until 3, I'll still get 4 hours of sleep. :)

At this time of year, do you pretty much live at the office?

Frankly, this is too early in the season.

It's going to be even tougher this year. My prior boss (prior firm administrator) was a psycho nutbag, but at least she knew how things worked around here. She didn't accomplish much, but could back me up when needed and also set up and monitored all the efiling. This year it's just me plus a temp that is, well, less than effective.

Back in the day, on the admin side, it used to be 2 full time, one temp full time, and one temp part time. Now it's me and one (not very helpful) temp and we consistently, somehow, lose WAY fewer clients than an average firm would. I have been losing overtime to streamlining and my own efficiency for years, but that is pretty much stopping cold this year.

I probably won't even get a bonus because I'll have so much OT. :)
Hi all!

I've had a wonderful 2 days and feel like sharing.. anyone game (or awake?)

Hey! I resemble that remark:)

Fine - I'll just talk amongst myself (and the voices in my head)...

I've been snowed in for 12 days. Granted, I could have left before the Thursday before last Thursday. The snow wasn't Boston levels of snow. But classes were cancelled for the entire week (which never happens), the ice was wicked, and we seemed to get another 2 or 3 or 8 inches each day. Oh, did I mention that the morning temps were in the minus range (without wind chill factored in).

Yah, it's sucked here. So, with a new week and no school cancellations, yours' truly had to shovel that shit out of her driveway and go to work. I started on Sunday for a Tuesday launch. It snowed again. So Monday, I started over and met the nicest people. A couple of women borked their transmission pulling out of the parking space in the street in front of my house. I'm totally blocked in (of course they couldn't tell because of the 4 foot snow pack the plows left and the fact that I've only just started an archeological snow dig to even find my driveway.) I shoveled, they did what they did. They apologized profusely for being stuck in insane snow drifts and I lent her friends cable jumpers to unstick their friends who got stuck helping her. Niceness all around.

Time lapse to 6 hours later. I'm back out doing shift 2 and get my car out of the driveway (and yes! a little Saturn sc1 can totally plow through a 4 foot snow/ice bank...). I'm stuck with half my car's arse hanging out in the street on a snow/ice bank. Who comes along...? The woman with the car that AAA swears they'll get to. They see me stuck and, because I was nice before, spent the next 45 minutes getting me off that bank.

And people say cities are mean:)

(and yes, AAA showed up 4 hours later - I made them hot tea and we all had dinner at the Chinese restaurant across the street).

I'll probably never see them again, but for 1 moment, 3 strangers were literally whooping and high-fiving and hugging in the middle of a snow lined street.

I'll leave ya'll with that as a warm fuzzy.

Sounds like you're getting buried. And you get to be the only really qualified person fighting against the tide.

Also, you've just got to love when you lose extra cash because you're really good at your job and complete things quickly.
Hopefully you won't get the loss of a bonus as thanks for busting your ass and being both willing and able to do the overtime needed to get the job done.

Sounds like you've had a hell of a time dealing with all the weather garbage.

Hope that you're staying warm through it all and not working your way towards a frigging heart attack digging out of snow drifts.
And yes, people can be decent every once in a great while. It's just a rarity.

I've been mostly OK thus far. Raises have kept up with the loss of overtime. 2014 was the first year I actually made less and it wasn't by much.

Thankfully the managing partner, the head honcho, is both loyal and decent. I'll bitch a lot until April 15, unfortunately for you guys mostly here, but I remain both lucky and happy. :)

Well, that's good at least, both in the cash made and actually having a decent boss.

Also? Bitching doesn't bother me. Hell, I spend half my time bitching about video games. ;)

Have a good night, enjoy the game, and sleep well when you get there. =)

Thanks. That warms my heart, which is the warmest thing in my house except Toshi (my cat).

Got the car our and it's living in the parking lot of the restaurant across the street. Still haven't excavated my driveway yet...

Hang in there with the job (I'm back-reading the story). But never ever underestimate the ability of someone who can screw you just because they can. I will honor your fuckton of work with me not paying taxes...

(Honestly, I don't make enough untaxed money)

Hi Inny,Crow:-)
A kind word or a helpful hand is all that is needed to live in harmony:-)

On the other hand do the wrong thing and all hell breaks loose....
