Had, not exactly a busy day, but rather eventful. Took a walk, allowed the sun to shine on my mole man complexion, came back, found that the keyboard had definitely died for good. Gnashed my teeth a bit about the whole job interview thing, had lunch, took a siesta since the TV was busy with telenovelas. Went out and bought a new keyboard, and finally, tried a bit of Dark Souls 2.

I've skimmed the surface of the past posts. There seems to be a lot of hugging going around.

You can do it! I mean, sure, the game's going to drive you to the brink of insanity, but you can totally still do it! =)

Yes, I absolutely said that. It's broken as all hell. The AI's broken, your own character's broken, the scenery's broken, there's no story, some of the guns aren't even worth upgrading, and at least for me the entire thing would crash to desktop when my health got low.
BUT. Given this "wonderful" time of year....if you just want to shoot something, or lots and lots of things, until you're thinking to yourself, "My character doesn't even need to run anymore. They could totally use the small ocean of blood and viscera to essentially Slip 'N Slide on their stomachs from place to place"?
Then Zombie Shooter is unsurpassed. (And dear gods, NOT the second one. The first one.)

Now allow me to reminisce about old times and state absolute truths which bear no discussion.

The 90's sucked, there's no denying that.

But among the abundance of emo kids, grunge whining away about how it still mattered and the total collapse of the WWF into a boring as hell snore-fest with no interesting characters and cookie cutter bodybuilders with factory made personalities. There was one point of pride and light for the pen&paper roleplaying community (who also got their own troubles when some kids muscled in their turf with an obnoxious card game about magic and coastal wizards).

That good thing was White Wolf's old World of Darkness.

That is not to say that these games weren't afflicted by the same malaise that infected the rest of the decade. The games had their share of WANGST by the truckload, and it featured bargeloads of emo kids brooding about the horrors of eternal life. But it was offset by happy-go-lucky sociopaths, modern berserker warriors, and just so much plain awesome, that you didn't care. Sometimes that wangst was justified (Nosferatu) and treated accordingly. Others, it wasn't and they took all that that existential anguish way too seriously, but here's the trick, the games often suggested you use those wangster players as a butt-monkey if they got too much into it.

I used to narrate for Werewolf, and my main problem was trying to keep my players from. "Let's transform and just rush forward stomping everything in our path, like Godzilla". Which considering what a raging werewolf warrior was capable of doing, is an apt comparison.

My friends were a tad on the violent side.

So yes I'm an Old World of Darkness fan (also nostalgia).

And all of this is simply because I've noticed that Vampire Bloodlines, which I think is known as the GOOD vampire game is currently on sale and I have never played it.

How great should my shame be?

Settlers - definitely take a look at these. Have 'em.
HOMM - have *not* played. #1 already installed a week ago based on what I've heard of the series.
KOTOR - also already installed. Put about 12 games on there - apparently the highly recommended ones. :)
SMAC - yep, keep meaning to start, but want to experience so much of my backlog I'm afraid an entire season will disappear on me.
Total Annhiliation - has been calling to me for some time. May come after some of these above.
SC4 - Sim City 2000 is in my Top 5 of all time, have sunk countless hours. Still have yet to try 4!
