FearfulSymmetry: Am I the only one who replays point and clicks? I find it nice to go back to my favourite ones every once in a while and sink back into the comfortable familiar atmosphere. Like rereading your favourite book or watching that brilliant movie for the umpteenth time. Having said that, I still think the price for the Book of Unwritten Tales 2 is way too steep.
Hey everyone! Are you all okay?

adaliabooks: Fine thank you, just a little cold :/
I've just baked a lot since I was a kid and pie and pastry was always something I was good at.
When I first met my girlfriend online I told her I made a really good apple pie but she didn't believe me and said I was a boy and therefore couldn't bake XD
So of course I proved her wrong ;)

It must be very pleasant to have a boyfriend who can bake... and who likes it !! :)
<still wishes she spent her time baking so the pipes don't burst...>

Hello! Hey everyone! Are you all okay?
I replay them, but not for a long time after I have finished them. I have too many games in my backlog to keep replaying the same few. A bit like books, if I stuck to just reading my favourites over and over again, I would not have time to read new ones.
I'm doing well, thank you. How is the day treating you so far?

Bread (unsurprisingly, considering what we do) is my speciality. I used to bake a lot, but I don't often have the time (or inclination) these days :( It must be very pleasant to have a boyfriend who can bake... and who likes it !! :)
Plus we always seem to be dieting these days (largely unsuccessfully) so making apple pies and chocolate cakes doesn't really fit with that...
Yeah, if I want to read a book I read a book, so I suppose when I play a game I want there to be more for me to do. Plus I find the puzzles in adventure games can be ridiculously obtuse sometimes and I hate that.. XD

I can cook a very good pie and pastry. As well as cakes and buns. I am just no good at making them look fancy. But to be honest it's not something I have tried often, so maybe with a bit of practice I can be making fancy cakes in no time. :-) I've just baked a lot since I was a kid and pie and pastry was always something I was good at.

Also, you are making me want to bake an apple pie when I get home tonight. :-)

innocuous77: <raises hand> I do. But the really good adventure games are like a good blanket - warm and always there. The replay value is the value of the game itself. Why bother playing Gabriel Knight Super Wow Edition again? Because it was a good game.
Hell, why should GOG exist in the first place? Old folks like me? Yes and no.
Games are games. And we love them.
ddickinson: Do you replay adventure games often? I might replay them after a few years, maybe sooner for a really good game, but they are never really that long and once you know the story, it loses some of it's appeal. I can see why people would be fine with paying such a high price, but I also think many would not dream of investing so much into an adventure game. Hell, why should GOG exist in the first place? Old folks like me? Yes and no.

Just tonight, in my horrid winter chill, I chose to play an old game...
Yes, the one with blankets:)

adaliabooks: I never really got into point and click / adventure games. The only one I every really played and enjoyed was Discworld Noir, and while I wouldn't pay more than £10 or so for a working version I would definitely play it again (but it has been years since I've played it, so the puzzles would be pretty much as new anyway).
These days I find it hard to justify £40 for any game, but I know I'll pay it for console games when I have the money again because there isn't really another option :/
ddickinson: Point and click games generally have a smaller user base. Probably becasue most gamers are looking for more action and gameplay, as Crow said, adventure games are almost like interactive books, which is not to everyone's liking. These days I find it hard to justify £40 for any game, but I know I'll pay it for console games when I have the money again because there isn't really another option :/
A game with little to no base replay value, with puzzle-logic ranging from silly to psychotic.
Given that, it gets easier to see why Wolfenstein and Doom got so popular. They were the perfect alternative at the perfect time.

Mornoon, little owl!
I'm... not too well today. Feeling very sick to my stomach :-\ Mentally well though, which is always a plus!
Not feeling well (see above^) Could I have a pat on the shoulder instead of a hug today? A hug might make me throw up on you... *pat on the shoulder*
There are two shooters on my wishlist that I'll definitely pick up. I forgot what they were already...
I didn't read anything that I missed... so... I just hope everyone is doing well. I wish everyone a good day.

I own the first one, and I began playing it a while ago, but then I got distracted and didn't finish it, so I'll need to get back to it sometime soon. What I played was pretty good.
I'm fine! Just went to a new physical therapist this morning and my neck is a lot better now. I'll need to come back for treatment and do regular exercises for a few months, but for the first time in half a year or so things are looking up on the painful neck front. :P

I get what you're saying. Unfortunately, I'm always falling for the trap where I go back to my favourite games/books/movies and don't try out enough new ones. :P I replay them, but not for a long time after I have finished them. I'm doing good. About to clean the house up a bit. :)
